Gift card purchase worked for me when they had the $15 off a $15 purchase a few weeks back.

Can buy gift card. Both 5 off 25 and 10 off 50 worked, though the process is not very transparent and makes you cross your fingers... but at the end the system is honest.

Was that 2 separate transactions or both coupons on one gift card?

does the Paypal CC works like a other CC when it comes to get a pull on your record and would it be listed under your credit record?

No, it's just linked to your paypal account. They aren't really giving you credit, just a credit CARD which pulls from whatever other funds you have it set up to pull from.

thirddowndraw said:   Was that 2 separate transactions or both coupons on one gift card?
two separate. can't risk to get both on one card as the process is not transparent or in any of your control...

FYI, it only works for in-store purchases. Below is the email from Paypal support.

Thank you for contacting PayPal Customer Support. My name is Jeremy and I am happy to assist you with your question. The promotion you are referencing is only for In-store checkout when you use PayPal at the register. The discount will automatically apply. Please let us know if you have any further questions or if we can assist you in your future PayPal transactions. Have a great day! I suppose it would be safest to make a purchase in the $25-49 range first, and then a $50+ purchase.

MISTERCHEAP said:   jplee3 said:   Is there a specific order in which you have to use the coupons? i.e. if I saved the $5 off $25 offer before I saved the $10 off $50 offer to my account, do I need to make the purchases in that same order?

no, no specific order is required.

however, if you buy $80 worth of stuff, you should split the orders 1 @ $50+ and one at $25+ to get both credits.

From your Paypal account you can turn the offers on and off for your next purchase. I plan on using the $50 one and then turning on the $25 one after that.

Paypal only authorizes one coupon at a time (the highest). If you want to use the $5 off $10 first you have to uncheck the $10 off $50 first in your paypal account. Remember to go back in later and re-authorize the $10 off $50. Not necessary if you use the $10 off $50 first (info is from paypal - I found out the hard way)

Why would you want to use the 5 off 10 first?

I have the 5 off 25 and 10 off 50 coupons active in paypal so, I went to Home Depot and bought a $25 gift card using paypal. The transaction completed fine, however, my credit card has a pending charge for $25 instead of $20. Can anyone explain why? Does paypal go in and charge the charge amount later on?

I tried doing a separate transaction for a $50 gift card afterwards and that one was declined. I tried 3 times and it wouldn't go through. I don't think I will ever try to use paypal at a store checkout again. This whole process has been frustrating. I guess I should have expected that with paypal being involved.

Did you read the post by wtjc? Seems like this may be the problem. Otherwise, double check that the $5 off $25 coupon is checked to use on the next eligible purchase. If you checked out using paypal, you had to supply a Pin#. The paypal transaction should have applied immediately on the transaction and you would see it in your paypal activity if it was done correctly and the coupon would've disappeared from your special offers detail. You can call customer service to see if they can fix it or you may need to cancel and retry it.

Thanks. I've been following this thread but missed his post somehow. This is just great. I sent an email to PayPal. Let's see if I get any kind of useful response out of them. This is quickly becoming not worth the $15 savings.

Ok.. I got a response from PayPal. I guess I will wait and see. I won't try using the $50 one until this first one finally goes through.

"Thank you for contacting PayPal Customer Support. My name is Naomi and I am happy to assist you with your recent inquiry.

The transaction has not completed yet. Once the payment is complete, you will see the correct amount charged. Your transaction status says pending right now."

This was my response from paypal "Thank you for contacting PayPal Debit Card. My name is Lindsay, and I understand you have a question about a coupon with Home Depot. I am happy to assist.
I do apologize that your coupon was not applied. Did you redeem these two coupons through a coupon site? When we send out the emails for a coupon, we will only send one so that it will be valid for you. If you have multiple on your account then the only coupon that is valid is the one that is worth more in value, which would be the $10 off of a $50 dollar purchase.
I apologize that you were not aware of this, but you can always go into your account and uncheck the $10 off coupon so that only the $5 will be available, and you can use that for your next purchase"

Note: My transaction shows completed, and I still haven't received the credit. Because of this the response I received from Lindsay sounds more logical.

Can anyone else confirm this behavior? Did you guys have to use the $10 off $50 *first* and then the $5 off $25 to get the credits?

Not everyone in the world has text messaging. Had to have the text sent to my wife's phone and then try to get a hold of her at work so she can email me the confirmation code. And the code expires after 15 minutes. Awesome.

Derp derp derp. This is why I use Paypal as little as possible.
Sign up for google voice and you can send and receive sms text mesages.

Google Voice doesn't work w/paypal texting. Paypal doesn't work with all cell phone services. I talked to Paypal tech services about Google Voice and T Mobile, neither work. I can verify that Virgin Mobile texting works as should major providers ATT & Verizon. If you're having problems, you can also skip the cell phone confirmation and change your payment method to use the paypal card (credit card). You'll have to wait about 7-10 days for it to arrive in the mail.

cell phone is required as in step 2. can't skip it.

I've done this on two accounts now: You need to put in any phone #, then it will ask for the confirmation code. At this point, you can confirm later. Go into your paypal settings, payment preferences, in store checkout, checkout choices, check option for paypal payment card.
I was mailed the paypal payment card on one account, it took about 7 days to get it. If you need to use this option, do it now since this offer ends 12/11. We only have 1 cell phone that works w/paypal, so I requested the card for the 2nd paypal acct.

Good News! I decided to try the same cell phone# for two paypal accts. I switched the 1st paypal acct to payment card only, then was able to setup the cell phone confirmation for
the 2nd paypal acct so I don't have to wait for the paypal payment card to arrive.

I changed my cellphone to be the same for my two PP accounts as well. My question though is how will PP know *which* account you're using if you setup the same phone # and same pin (I don't think this should be a unique id to differentiate accounts though anyway) for both accounts? Because when you're at self-checkout and choose PP as the form of payment and select the "phone number" option, it only asks for your phone # and pin....

wtjc said:   If you have multiple on your account then the only coupon that is valid is the one that is worth more in value, which would be the $10 off of a $50 dollar purchase.

So what she is saying is, having both active is the same thing as ONLY having the $10 off $50, and when you make a purchase between $25 and $50, NO coupon gets applied because you're below the limit for the $10 off $50, but the $5 off $25 is effectively nullified by the $10 off $50 being active?

I changed one of the accounts to pay by paypal payment card only. This solved the problem of which account offer gets used. You slide it through using the card, not the phone#.

NO coupon gets applied when I bought $28.xx worth of bricks (did not feel telling The Home Depot guy who hauled them out that I change my mind so I took the bricks anyway) when I have both the $10 off $50 and the $5 off $25 coupons are active in my Paypal account.

Welp, the transaction status has now changed to Completed and I am still billed for $25 instead of $20. Guess I'm writing back to PayPal.

Do you end up having $60 withdrawn from bank account? Or $75 with $15 left in Paypal untouched?

dukerau said:   Do you end up having $60 withdrawn from bank account? Or $75 with $15 left in Paypal untouched?

$60.00 if you do it right (read the last 10 posts or so)

I've saved the $10 coupon to my paypal account and have over $50 in my Home Depot cart.

I've got to the last step of the payment with Paypal and don't see the $10 discount showing up.

Did I miss something? Does it get credited back after checkout?

Never mind.....it looks like it is only for in store purchases.......I think

Not sure if I missed this reading both threads, but PP says cannot be combined, I gather using a 5 off 25 ace coupon would invalidate?

Will see if this works, HD had to make some adjustments b/c they overcharged some things, and I also used a 15off ace coupon, and I had a store credit so the total on paypal doesnt add up, but the 10 credit is showing so far as pending:

I had a similar issue....called Paypal and had to be transferred to 3 different customer service reps to get to the In-Store checkout team....then she was able to look at my account and purchase and issue a $5 credit to my account since the discount hadn't been applied for some reason.

Sorry for my ignorance, but how does PP in store checkout work? I assume I would have a credit card associated with my PP account, configure the PP account for in store checkout, go to the store and enter my phone # and PIN, and my credit card gets charged through PP. Is that correct, or do I have to transfer money into my PP account first?

For the $10, does PP simply take that off of the $50+ charge or do they put $10 in your PP acount? If the latter, are there any fees to transfer the money into a checking account?

Are there any fees involved w/ PP in store checkout?

You type in your phone number and then the PIN you set up (when you register online with Paypal/HD system). If you have a Paypal balance, it is used, otherwise it pulls from your default funding source.

Paypal just takes the discount before funding the transaction. For example, in my transaction, I spent $50 and had no Paypal balance. Paypal pulled $40 from my bank account and then sent $50 to Home Depot. $0 left in my Paypal account.

No fees.

Cool, thanks!

You have to follow these steps:

1) Add $10 off $50 coupon to your account.
2) Add $5 off $25 to your account.
3) Make a purchase of $50 at HD.
4) Make a purchase of $25 at HD.

If you follow this you should receive both $10 and $5 credit to your account. If you do not received the $5 credit, wait for 2 days and call paypal and ask to speak with "In Store Checkout Specialist" they will manually issue you $5 credit.

Note: If your transaction gets declined, call paypal from the store and ask to speak with "In Store Checkout Specialist" keep them on the phone while you try again. Paypal's fraud detection systems is way too sensitive (it basically sucks). The rep can override it, tell the rep to be on the phone while you make the purchase.

great!

hmm today I tried this in store and my payment was rejected, first I thought it might be because Paypal was trying to charge to my bank account which is already closed, so I deleted the bank account, assuming now it have no choice but charge to my credit card, but it still failed. Any idea? Does this pay in store thing have to be charged to bank account?

No, I have my credit card down as the first payment choice for pay in store.

Ha, found my setting was using Paypal balance, no wonder it gets rejected no matter what I do.

Here's the latest from PayPal. I love how every CSR has a different story. Debating whether I should go ahead and try for the $50 one now.

"You should only be receiving one offer at a time through your email. If you have accepted multiple then the only offer that is valid is the one that is worth more value which would be the $10 off your $50 purchase.

I have went ahead and credited your account the $5 since you were unaware of this. You will see the credit post to your account within about 24 hours."

The problem is that few if any here ever actually receive email invitations to these PayPal coupon offers. That being said the PayPal CSR is full of it. On several occasions I have had two or three accepted merchant offer coupons from the same merchant loaded in my PayPal account and I have received credit for every one with no problems. Having mutiple coupons from the same PayPal merchant like these HD coupons is not an issue.

Not true at all! I also learned the hard way...made 2 separate qualified in-store purchases and only the $10 promotion captured. When I called PayPal, the CSR said that only 1 discount can be applied at a given time since PayPal supposedly only sends 1 promotion to a PayPal account at a time. So as stated earlier, you need to temporarily disable 1 discount until the other is used.

Can these be used with the zombie coupons from facebook?

I just used the $10 off $50 paypal offer and tried to combine it w/$5 off $50 coupon (from the email subscription offer a few days ago) but that one didn't work. The paypal offer was a clean transaction as I bought a gift card. I was logged in while at the register and it took about 2 minutes for the paypal details to show up. As expected, the coupon rolled off my paypal acct, but I still have the $5 off $25 coupon remaining on my acct.

Is this one time offer? Can you spend another $50 on something else and still got $10 off for that item?
