As far as shooting video goes, the 5d Mark III's main compitition is the Black Magic Cinema Camera and that has been selling for $3,000 and come with Davinci Resolveresolve. The cameras are almost the same when it comes to video. This is most likely Canon trying to keep up.

The cameras are very much not the same when it comes to video. Very different workflows and look, in my opinion neither is better than the other, it depends on what you are using them for, they both have strengths that the other cannot do at all.
The problem with Blackmagic is that the cameras are still not shipping due to very serious production issues, and it looks like they won't for quite a while, so for the moment, except for a few hundred review and early samples that are out, it's vaporware. You can't buy one for $3000 today, period.
