8 x 1.5v = 12v, if it does not have a power input for external DC -- cut off the end of any 12v power wart/brick you have lying around and connect to the battery terminals. Just look at the output voltage (and polarity) of unused electronics(cordless phones, even laptop) power warts and you might find a suitable one.
