This puppy will make you look like a pro. I got mine a month ago and first time out took some pics at a night club the night before Thanksgiving. People were telling me wow you're good photographer. When in fact I don't know what the heck I'm doing. I set the camera in auto mode and let the camera do it all for me. But I knew one thing and that is what lens to use. This "nifty fifty" will take amazing portraits and also does great in low light situations.

If you shoot on an APS-C camera, you might want to look at something narrower in the 28mm - 35mm (maybe even 40mm) range. For at-home shooting, 50mm is very narrow. For $100, though, it's a pretty small investment.
