I emailed them back and argued the shipping charge applied said $0.00.
went ahead and criticized them for unprofessional marketing, bait and switch just because I didn't add any extra packages to my order, yaddi yadda.

Maybe I'll even file a quick bbb report. just to nag them for not honoring the orders.

I paid with a shop safe generated number. They charged $1.06 last week and today I cancelled that number so that they can't refund. They'll have to go through with the order.

CC was charged-print.Staples still says processing and estimate delivery 1/28 nothing at the front door-so that's just bogus. Staples.com says delivery on Feb 6th. I'm assuming they will cancel at some point-but they better refund the card soon.

amsetus said:    They'll have to go through with the order.

No they don't. They will try to provide a credit to the original form of payment...and if that doesn't work...they will most likely send a refund check to the billing address.

I got the "Pay us the $9.99 S&H you forgot to pay or we'll cancel your order" e-mail.

However, I only received one of them - I made 5 separate orders and received 5 separate order confirmation e-mails. I wonder if they'll ship the first four and cancel me on the 5th. That would be OK by me.

I think this clearly is a bait and switch, since S&H is only going to be about $6-7 at most (probably a lot less given Staples' volume discount rate) and they could very easily combine all the orders into one box at that single shipping rate.

Not sure what's up with my single order of one stamp. Print center still says "in progress" with an estimated delivery of 1/28, which has come and gone. I still have not received a call or email demanding a delivery charge. Regular Staplez account status says the order has been shipped with an estimated delivery of 2/6 (hardly a 3-day rush job if that's the case).

Update: I placed two orders on 1/23, received an email for the first order - but nothing for the second order. Decided to call CSR this morning (was on hold for quite some time, kept busy working on some Sharepoint development) - said I was calling about the "stamper debaucle" - she laughed.

She was very pleasant - I asked about combining my orders or adding items to get to $20 for free ship. She said that had already been cancelled, and I would be credited the full amount form each order. She didi offer to re-order the stamps at the 0.99 price. Now I have seven stamps and two boxes of K-cups on order.

The email from Staples Print and Copy show the full price, but the Staples Order confirmation e-mail show the correct price for the stamps.

Same. Now why would I cancel for something that will cost me $1.07? I can wait.

got $1.09 refund back to my card

Charged $1.07
Refund $1.06

But FW CB $0.07

I'm sure the FWCB will be reversed once Staples notifies FW that you "cancelled the order".

Update: I got my stamp orders this morning! Thank you, great deal!

I got the same delayed e-mail listed above a couple of days ago. Today I received the one stamp I bought for myself (the order # listed in the delay e-mail).
The site shows that 1 additional stamp I ordered for my father has shipped to him. Two additional stamps I also ordered for my father are still showing as "in progress" - I expect that they will probably ship as well.
I'm sure they are backed up tens (maybe hundreds) of thousands of orders due to this deal...but I suspect if I haven't gotten cancellation notice by this time and have already received 50% of the order I should be getting the rest within another week or so.

Per a post citing a CSR, there were 30,000 orders. No idea how many they canceled. This deal made fw, sd, and quite a few other blogs per other posts.

My 4 orders are all still showing "On Hold (pending payment)". Since I gave them a valid US-issued Visa card when I ordered, I assume they're not going anywhere. I'll probably just let them sit there until they get cancelled, a phone call with a CSR would probably be too aggravating. (The only thing making me think I should try re-entering the CC is that I once ordered with a Canada-issued US$ card that had a US mailing address. They took the order no problem but then phoned the next day to say they couldn't accept the card (I gave them another US-issued card over the phone). So maybe there really is just simply something wrong with the card.

I am not sure who is the victim here.

Not sure if this was meant to be condescending or not? I wasn't posting to gloat, but to let others know who haven't heard back (via the cancellation e-mail) that there is still a chance they will be receiving their orders.

UPDATE: Father got his 2nd (of 3) today. As of last night it still stated "in progress" but now shows shipped. Should he not get the last one I won't be upset since it was ordered with an older logo before I found his updated one.

Got my stamp via UPS next day air service. Sent from Cookeville, TN. Ordered 1/23 @ 10:37 AM PST. The shipped status must have been updated last night as I checked status late yesterday afternoon and it was still in progress.

2 of my 4 show that they shipped today!

Hurray!

I am confused about the sequence. Before you put you called about "2 orders." So are these two orders that got cancelled..shipped ?...or are you talking about the two orders you didn't inquire about ?

As crazy as this sounds, they are shipping 1 that I inquired on (and they said was canceled) and one that I DIDN'T ask about. I used our Premier rewards number on all 4. Then I did 2 of my own with my own login and credit card (no rewards number) and they still say "Payment pending".

I didn't get the "email to pay shipping" on ANY of my orders.

Okay, so my orders are all sitting there "on hold awaiting payment". Presumably they'll expire eventually.

Is there any way to enter (re-enter) the CC info without calling?

Thanks!
=aw

Lucky for those (premier?) members who got it.

Mine was canceled and refunded, despite emailing, chatting and calling them, all to empty automat ears.
Imagine if all "reputable" companies as this did the same bait and switch.

I could sell something on eBay, and then tell the buyer that if he wants the goods, instead of my advertised free shipping, he has to pay an extra $9.99 to get it. Would that be fair?

Incredible that for such small transaction Staples has lost my substantial account, and this as a matter of principals. There are plenty of competitors out there and maybe I'll spend a little more rather to have to deal with this joint.

I called again on Friday and had 0 wait time. CSR combined my stamp order with $24.99 Trend Micro s/w to use my Rewards balance coupon and got free 7 day shipping.

Dano

Mine finally cancelled, and card refunded. But I didn't use rewards number on any orders, so I guess Staples didn't feel like they had to go out of their way to please me, possibly thinking I was a 1st-time orderer.

All 4 of my orders where I used the Staples Premier number shipped. The 2 orders for personal use, without the Permier number are "payment pending".

So it appears that Premier customers get their stamps for $.99, but everyone else doesn't.

Crappy on Staples part in my opinion.

Received all 4 now. Plus the credit card shows credit for 2 of them that I called about (from the 4). Obviously Staples really messed up on this deal. I got 4 for $1.98. LOL!

My single order has shown "in progress" from the print center since I placed it 1/23 and "shipped from warehouse" from the regular Staplez site for days. I never received the cancellation call or email, and my credit card shows the charge but no refund. But I still have not received the stamp. I sent them an email, and am waiting to hear back.

mine got canceled saying i owe 10 bucks to ship it

Shipment arrived today - shipped via UPS ground and took 5 business days from Tennessee which is typical delivery time.

Dano

I finally got through to the print center. (Very annoying that there is no email contact, took many tries to get through via phone, not willing to wait on hold.) My order ended up being cancelled like many others. Okay, so it was only a buck, but they really botched mine. I did not ever get a call or email or any sort of contact from them. The order still shows up in order history--no mention of cancellation, and the charge (with no credit) is on my credit card. C'mon Staplez, where's the professionalism?

Can you say, AARGGGH! As of 3/6, my never-received, still-showing-as-shipped-yet-supposedly-canceled order has not credited the charge back to my credit card. Tried to contact them via chat, but it's now working right (the "send" button stays greyed out after the initial contact). I sent them an email contact form instead.

For what seemed like a simple, minimal-risk order at the time, this sure has generated a lot of aggravation.

I spent hours trying to resolve my problem and it was useless.

My suggestion is to click on the file a complaint with the BBB, the way I did. At least now they will spend their time resolving an issue with a customer. Good luck.
