Would this be good as a first gun? I'm trying to convince myself to finally just get one...
I've shot some small 22's and a 45 before. I don't see myself at the range every weekend, just want something for the home and occasional range time.

The hi-point guns are American made, and have a lifetime guarantee. I own the .45, and it's a decent gun. It is very bulky, very big, and very ugly. None of that matters if you're just using it to keep at your house for self defense. If you plan to carry it, you don't want it. They are the cheapest guns on the market, but they are a reliable gun. The next brings me to Buds. Since about October, Bud's have been a crappy place to buy from. I've bought over 10 guns from them the last 2 years, but my last 2 purchases did not work out too well. The last gun was guaranteed fast delivery and took 4 weeks to arrive. When it arrived, they swapped colors, so it was the wrong gun. Was just a big hassle. The other issue was I had a gun on their layaway program... paid it off in 35 days, then 2 weeks after paying it off, they told me the gun was out of stock, which I was supposed to be guaranteed the gun from what their layaway program says. The gave me a refund, which took 3 more weeks to arrive, and then charged me a restocking fee. Had to get the money back from the bank. Won't deal with them again.
Total gun noob here... I was trying to find a S&W M&P .40 compact, but obv everywhere is OOS. Bit the bullet (lol?) and bought this as a first gun to learn with and get some range time.
