Hard to know "for sure", but I can't see how there is a valid way to not honor this new promotion. It is a different coupon number, and the offer details are different. Last week's free case provided a $4.99 instant discount at the register. There is no instant discount this week, just free (100%) after rewards.

At least in the email I received this morning it is a different coupon but the details are the same. This new free after rewards coupon 63617 also subtracts $4.99 like last weeks coupon.
The worst case scenario is that you need to return it. Keep in mind that the sign said limit 2 per promotion with the promotion period being over four weeks. However, rewards have posted for weekly purchases. I think this week's deal will work just fine even if you did the deal last week.

So did u do these case paper deals for the last 3 weeks and were able to get the rewards postd ? Wow cool. No sure if this can b combined with 20% off bag coupon, would lower the taxes atleast.

The convenience card allows corporate members to get items at their contract price.
"The Staples Convenience Card will enable departments to make emergency purchases through any Staples retail store. When using a convenience card the user is granted the UAB contract price, and tax exempt status. The Convenience card is associated with a pre-approved UAB blanket purchase order number."

I did my third week yesterday so it is not showing yet. However, the first two weeks are both showing $40 rewards each.
Anyone else having reduced rewards showing for case paper? I bought arrowhead water with ad coupon, a martha stewart notepad free AC (app check-in), and the FARewards and my rewards are only showing as 38.06. On my receipt, it clearly shows the only coupon applied to the copy paper is 11622 for 4.99 off each mini case. My purchase a week before this shows for full 40 in rewards so probably limit 2 weekly as opposed to limit 2 for the entire promo duration. I'll have a chat with a SR to correct the discrepancy. A heads up for everyone to check the posted rewards amount.

You need to avoid using other coupons in your order when buying something that is Free After Rewards. You can probably get it fixed by contacting SR. It's unfortunate that they are not giving the full $20 for this no matter what you used, since I would gladly roll some Rewards to get some paper but have no interest in spending real money and getting yet another $40 of Rewards that I'm going to have to struggle to cash out.

Oh my, now that you mention that, I went back to my year 2012 transactions and noticed that it happened with other transactions so I will be going through all of them and talk to a SR to see if they can all be fixed. How annoying...
Such a sucker for Staples and OM deals, will probably pick up more paper this week and unload somehow.
I purchased this deal at Staples. I used some rewards. When I checked my reward account. I only received $18 in rewards instead of the $20 plus $8 in returned ink. Next time I will save rewards for a sale price item with no rewards.

As Billrubin & others have said, this happens all the time with Staples Rewards - not just with rewards and coupons, but even with instant savings (sale price). It happened to me on the recent HP ink double recycling promo. I bought the 2 half-cases of paper and the $50 of HP ink on the same receipt. When I didn't get any double recycling rewards for my 20 cartridges (not even the 5 that were the unannounced limit), I called Staples Rewards. The guy told me that the $9.98 from the two half-case paper coupons pro-rated to everything on the receipt including the ink, so the rewards system "thought" I only spent $46.27 on ink. He was able to see that the $9.98 in coupons was strictly for the paper and not for the ink, so he is issuing me a courtesy coupon for the $40 difference, after explaining that the double recycling promo actually had a limit of 5 but they "screwed up" (his words) and forgot to put that in the terms & conditions.
So the bottom line is, always check your rewards account to be sure that other coupons or instant savings didn't inadvertently get applied to the items that generated rewards (paper, ink, etc.) If that happens, call or chat with Staples Rewards and they will fix it without any hesitation. It's annoying that they don't fix this glitch, but I guess it benefits them because some people won't notice and will just accept the reduced rewards without contacting them. Also, the courtesy coupons only have a 60-day expiration date, even for Premier members, so I guess Staples doesn't mind sending those out when their system screws up, since you get much less time to use them up.
So is it $4.99 after rewards or $20 back in rewards? (before using the coupon) Can't tell from the flyer really. Just if the offer is get $20 back in rewards, can't we pay with rewards and still get the $20? I seem to recall if it's a fixed amount we usually can pay with rewards... no? EDIT: now that I think about it, fixed rewards usually are unaffected by using coupons either, but someone already mentioned getting reduced rewards with a coupon... so probably a no on paying with rewards, eh?

It is $4.99 after the $20 rewards, but with the coupon it will take the $4.99 off making the 5-ream case of paper free (except for tax of course). You can't pay with rewards unfortunately (if you are hoping to get the full $20 back in rewards at least).
Ok. So I was driving by a Staples store yesterday and stopped and purchased two B&M 5-ream paper cases. I had one of this coupons printed out but the cashier couldn't apply the coupon for some reason and applied a different coupon No. 37467 which also took 4.99 off each case. My questions is now, am I still able to get my 20.00 back in rewards or not? I also got a rewards number from them yesterday and tried to log in online today and I couldn't. Please, anyone knows what am I suppose to do to make sure I qualify for rewards. btw on my receipt there is nowhere to be found a rebate offer number. and the closest Staples store is 50 miles away from where I live. Any advice would be apreciated. Thanks

Check your account in a few days under purchase details to see if the rewards have posted for this transaction.

Nope. They entered one of the 20% off coupons. You need them to enter code 63617 to get the rewards.

The other one is just a coupon and not a trigger for the rewards. The sku itself is the trigger for the rewards. There is no NI-SKU involved with this rewards item. Besides it is rewards not a rebate. NI-SKUS are for rebates not rewards.
Thanks for quick reply! Do I have any options left? Can they change the coupon over the phone or something? I am not able to get back to the store until Monday or Tuesday and the coupon expires today.

Has anyone else noticed the Rewards website not showning recent purchase? The Update is showing February 17, 2013 - perhaps they've found a way to go back in time.

Dano funny. I had a page open and it showed updated through Feb. 24. I refreshed the page and now the date is Feb. 17.I have 2/23 purchases posted. Sometimes when they back date they remove the transactions as well but not this time.
On Friday, after buying TD using Rewards in a separate transaction near closing time, I purchased 2 5-ream cases using the $4.99 coupon and Staples GC's. Figured it would be an easy way to earn $40 in Rewards - but I was wrong. The receipt printer ran out of paper and jammed when the cashier tried to put in a new reel. After she got it up and running, she gave me the receipt - scanned it to confirm she'd entered my Rewards number correctly and the 2 coupons were correctly applied - looking good.
This afternoon I was looking at the TD receipt and case paper receipt and noticed the case paper receipt didn't have a barcode - looking further it didn't have the time or any other transaction information. This didn't look good since I wouldn't get the Rewards if the system didn't save the transaction. Called the 800 number, explained it to the CSR and she couldn't find the transaction - possibly to early to show - but she offered to create the barcode. That's a No Go since it only lists the store location - so she advised drive back to the original store. Since the other store is 20 miles away she said try the local store. Went it to the local store and spent 30 - 40 minutes trying to do a return without success. They tried to do a normal return, taking forever and finally concluded they couldn't do it. Called the other store and they had no record of the transaction - only 2 cases were sold yesterday and they were sold prior to 9PmPST. Next attempt was a return without receipt but that resulted in a zero $ transaction since the case paper apparently was recently on a B1G2F.
Since I used GC's for the transaction (which the cashier offered to toss last night since they had zero balance but I decided to keep), I suggested they look up the history on the GC's. No luck there - website only shows the remaining balance on the GC's. Final result is the ASM suggested I go to the other store or return on Sunday when a more experienced manager is on duty. This thing has already cost me an hour + and I'm thinking the other manager won't be able to resolve. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to resolve the transaction? Thanks for any help that's offered.

Dont worry, exactly same thing happened to me in the first week of the 5 case ream paper. Staples about this issue of no bar code on duplicate reciepts, that Call Staples rewards and speak to a supervisor (not with normal rep, she will ask you to go sort it out at the store). Supervisor will give you a fax number to send the duplicate receipt and cover page with your rewards number and explanation of the issue. Then they will mail you a rewards coupon for that amount to your address on file. Wastes some time but i didnt go back to the store at all
Hope that helps and if you have any extra i'm looking for a 10$ off 75$ Staples app coupon if you have 2 i am giving a 5$ e-gc as well (PM me anyone)

This is not necessary as there can be multiple cashiers running transactions at the same time at the sasme store unless OP was checking out alone
