Bought two of these about six months ago on a similar deal. They take D batteries and are still going strong. I use one of them to light up my doorway and the stairs so I see to get the door unlocked. They are pretty bright and the motion sensor turns on the light when you are within a few feet. But I have noticed that the light does not turn on during daylight which saves the batteries. Buying two more on this one. Enjoy!
