Well, suddenly everyone I'm talking to is doing juice fasts and such. I figure it wouldn't hurt. Seems to be a great machine with some reviews that raise an eyebrow, but I'm in.

I was just looking at something similar made by Champion. I want to make my own peanut and almond butter...will this work?

You get good, quality juice. End of story. Worth it, IMO.

Not into that, but from what I understand, yes. Just fine.

Good price, quality juicer. Check out the many videos on YouTube for more information, comparison reviews, etc.

There are a few different types of juicers on the market so for the uninitiated, it's best to do your research so you are not disappointed. This is a masticating juicer. There are also centrifugal juicers and high speed blenders, such as the Blendtec or Vitamix. Each does something a little different and each has pros and cons. This is an excellent, high quality juicer. It juices at low speeds which is supposed to preserve the enzymes in the juice better. Additionally, though prep to juice takes a bit longer because you have to cut the fruits and veggies up smaller, you can store this juice for up to 72 hours without the enzymes degrading.
We started out with a Jack LaLanne that I got on Freecycle. It works well for what it is, but the pulp comes out very wet, meaning I am not getting all of the juice. Also, it does not do as well with dry greens, and that is what I am looking to do more juicing of. Juicing is expensive, especially if you are using organic produce. But the health benefits can be immense. This is especially true if one is not inclined to eat raw veggies on a daily basis.
I also recommend the movie "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" for those who have not watched it. Lots of good info in there about juicing and healthy eating in general.

just got this shipped from Macy's for $202 last month (inc tax). Really cost me $180 because I bought a discounted gift card.

Great deal!! I would have gone with the Macy's deal but I had several hundred $$ in gift cards from Amazon (with two day free Prime shipping) so free for me. I know that Macy's is offering 40% off juicers, so if you can combine with other offers it is probably better than the Amazon deal.

Yea Vitamix and Blendtec are probably the 2 best blenders around but both pricey.

Yes, Blendtec will be my next splurge. For now my regular blender does an amazingly good job at making smoothies, but when it kicks a Blendtec will take its place on my counter.

In your opinion, how are they lost and which vitamins in particular are at risk of being lost in juicing? Also, are you speaking specifically of masticating juicers or any juicers?

I have to admit I thought $400 for a blender was ridiculous. But after 6 years of juicing, smoothing, etc. Vitamix was worth every penny. I would love a great green smoothie recipe!

Some of the most vitamin-rich vegetables (like beets) are not too enjoyable to eat on a daily basis.
