Shipping kills the deal..

Anyone know if you can use Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable batteries in smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors vs. buying regular alkaline batteries?

Pretty important purpose to possibly let go up in smoke because you wanted to save a couple bucks.

For a single pack of AA or AAA, after shipping that works out to $20 or about 27.7 cent per battery - too much for a budget battery brand. I've gotten Rayovak batteries in bulk packs like this for as low as 16-17 cents per battery but usually around 20 cents which is my target for a great deal.
