This sounds like a good deal for a Surface, understanding that it is RT and not Pro.

Change title to 32gb, not 32mb

Silly me. Done!

I love the OS, but the Surface RT is really under powered. This becomes clear when having 5 or 6 tabs open while browsing.

Price is good, though I would recommend waiting on the next version if you get annoyed easily but lag of any kind.

Spend $100 more and get yourself a real Windows 8 tablet.

RT is a horrible $1,000,000,000 flop, $250 is still a way too much for what you get

What RT tablet have you owned? If you have owned one, why did you get one over the Lynx or other like tablets? What negatively surprised you about it? Assuming you have ever owned one...

It is all about RT/vs real Windows 8. I was never surprised with RT since I've done my research, however at the time I just didn't have money for real Windows 8. RT vs W8? It is easy. For $100 more I can run Photoshop, I have loaded full Adobe X I had licensed with my old PC, I can join domains (I need that at work), I don't have to mess with printer drivers as much as I had to - I can install and run whatever I need to run without going to Microsoft Apps store. Granted, on Atom CPU Photoshop is slow as hell compared to my i7 16GB at work, but it runs.

$250 price is OK, but for $100 you get much more - that is my point. You also get 64GB vs 32GB and 1" larger IPS screen

I haven't owned it if it helps you, I was given it at work and was happy when it got finally replaced with a Dell XPS 10 w8 tablet 2 weeks ago. Your question sounds like if I said that Surface is bad but iPad is good. One doesn't need to try a castrated Windows 8 tablet to say that a full featured Windows 8 tablet is better.

So, you have never owned an RT device.... Or not?

Having a full computer is almost always better, doesn't mean we should get rid of any tablet that isn't. Also, it isn't as castrated as what most people think. it is just written for ARM which means you can't run x86 programs. It still has a lot of features Windows 8 has.

Did a person need to own a Kin to say it was a mistake? Do I need to take a bite of a rancid meat before pronouncing it bad?

RT is a flop. That has happened. Maybe you love it, but almost nobody intentionally bought it. That's why MS taking such a huge loss on it.

And for about the same money as the Windows tablet you can buy an Ipad refurb.

I have an iPhone, and iPad 2. I love them both. I'm trying to decide if I want to go with a Windows tablet or an iPad 3/4 refurb. Anyone used both? The advantage of the iPad is that it just works. It's easy to get apps, and easy to download a movie or songs to it. I'm leery of dropping $350+ for what essentially looks like a laptop with no keyboard.

Price is now $299. Daily Deal is over.

Isn't the app store situation really bad for windows? that is a real deal breaker to me no matter what the price...

I don't know about RT, but for the Pro
there is no device on earth that runs more Apps and programs,
even adding up iOS, Android, BBRY, Palm, etc.
as it runs all legacy software ... plus the Win8 Apps.

I really like WP8 (Windows Phone 8) and haven't found
any Apps that I really need that would be missing.
(I don't play games, though).

Even if I wanted WP8 or RT, the apps I need aren't there. I think my brokerage has an app on it. My bank, credit cards, and work e-mail client, though, none of those are available.

If all you do is web browsing, I'm sure it's fine, but for real work? RT and WP8 aren't supported. Not too many games, either. MS hasn't had an applications shortage for Windows since... well, ever. Dealing with that isn't something they're accustomed to, and it shows.

You do need to own something to give people a reliable review. I have heard people repeat the same bs on different products just because some website said it. It is exactly how misinformation spreads.

Nobody here is reviewing it. I don't need to own it to recognize that it's a flop. ASUS just dumped it. If you happen to love it and find it useful for your needs, that's awesome. My opinion certainly doesn't invalidate how it works for you. In the same way, your experience doesn't invalidate any of my statements. The product is a failure.

Why are you eager to defend it? Did you work on it? Are you somehow invested in it, beyond perhaps owning one?
