Was able to find stock in store on both of these items. YMMV as these will go really quickly...

Thanks OP and green 4 U. Snagged the Vizio in the 34952 area.

Took one to the cart, then abstained.

Check your local store stock.

Sanyo is out of business. It was owned by Panasonic. They pulled the plug and now they are getting rid of inventoryBuyer be ware...this reflects the price.Vizio does not offer inputs for analog VHS or your non-hd cable box.

I don't know about the Sanyo part, but the Vizio does in fact have analog video input for VCRs and regular old cable boxes. It's on the data sheet here -

Vizio in stock near me. Must...resist...temptation.

lots of terrible reviews on the Sanyo, but the Vizio looks good. Thanks OP!

Had been to a NOLA area WM yesterday. Online had shown the 46" in stock but 3 different reps couldn't find it anywhere. They did find me a 65" Vizio m650vse that had been a display for 499 + tax (half off 998, that had itself been marked down from 1299). Is the price good enough? Considering that it was a display that may have been ON for ~15 hours a day for however long it was on display, any thoughts on if I should keep it or return?

Thanks.

I would advise you to get a Square trade Warranty. They are always running 30% off deals.

This deal is not necessarily dead.I found tvs in stock, but 100 miles away. After a lot of looking I located a Sanyo 56 miles away.

I got in on this for about $244 with tax. Thanks so much, op! We had been watching broadcast TV on our 23" computer monitor, which had very, very poor viewing angles, and faded a lot if you were sitting over to the side at all. You can see this one very nicely from way over to the sides, and the sound is very good. The only thing I really wish it had that it is missing is a headphone jack - so I could come down and watch TV or a movie as loud as I'd like without anyone else being bothered.

I'm using mine for broadcast TV. If anyone else is in a similar boat, you've changed the settings from default and noticed a marked improvement, I would be VERY interested in you sharing your settings. Thanks!

Thanks gbfromtenn. Since it isn't a refurb, I presume it would have a full 1 year warranty. Plus the Amex doubles the warranty for upto 1 additional year. Let me look into the SquareTrade thing.

Sanyo shows IN STOCK at Poway (San Diego, CA) Wal-Mart. 46" at $228? Fantastic deal IF YOU GET A GOOD ONE. Lots of bad reviews. I'm leaving it there for someone else based on reviews.

I found the SANYO 46" locally and did the in store pick up.

WalMart does a bait and switch with a different model number when I go for pick up.

With the model I received, I only get 2 HDMI vs. 3 HDMI and 1 Component vs. 2 Component. $228 is damn cheap for a 46" TV, but I'm not very happy about WalMart giving me a totally different model number.

My options were take it or leave it.

I thought I'd pick up the SANYO - what's the worst that could happen? I'd have to return it? I'll take that chance for a 46" for $228.

Went to POWAY (San Diego) store, their own hand-held inventory said they had 2 in stock, but "they couldn't find them in the back". I just KNOW some employees put them away for their own purchase. GRRRRR.

After playing around with this for several days, here are my thoughts:

Tuner is sensitive and discovers/pulls in weak stations well

- it takes a very long time - almost a full second - to change channels on this thing. That's about 2x to 3x what I'm used to, and is annoying.

- TV does not automatically detect HDMI input. I have a ~2 year old DVD player, hooked it up with a ~3 year old HDMI cable. The set does not detect it, and I have to manually go through all the inputs to get there. Then I have to do the same again to switch back to tuner.

If they could have made the channels change faster, and have it automatically detect HDMI device, I would have been a lot happier with this. However, I still feel like it was a good deal for the price.
