works for me, but gotta add sales tax now for some more states from Amazon... That tax thing is making think twice about buying from Amazon a few times. I now search for alternate internet vendors for things I want from Amazon. Made a $20 difference on a lens purchase recently.
Also, if you want to get a real variety, add the "Essentials" for your 2nd bucket. It's only $56.86 (if you want the lowest 12 pack price, buy 2 of these buckets): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00955337I/ Contents: 4- Rice and Chicken, 4- Chili Mac, 4 Spaghetti
nixGuru said: I am getting $110 at checkout. Is this a Prime deal to get it for 99? $20 applied already. Are you sure you're not paying for shipping? Prime doesn't matter on price...just comes a day earlier. Tax was <$3 for me in GA and VA (because it's food) but your state may be higher.
Having eaten almost every flavor, and watched prices pretty regularly, and "main course" items $4 or less is a good deal on these. I have not had one I would not eat again even though some are better than others.
$93.72 shipped to OR (no state sales tax). Usually pay nearly $6 each when buying separately. Mountain Home is my "go to" resource for backpacking food. Nutritious and tasty. Each packet provides a hefty meal--2 servings, essentially. One of the women in my backpacking group says she has plenty with only half of a packet.
Last backpacking trip we emptied the foil packets into ziplock bags prior to our trip, and rehydrated the meals in large, folding plastic cups rather than in the foil packets. That way we didn't have to deal with packing up the bulky, messy aluminum packets after eating. We just washed the cups, closed up the ziplocks, and packed them out. Much less to deal with. I wouldn't do that very far in advance, though. The ziplocks aren't airtight, and you could get moisture or bugs.
