i have had great luck with biostar personally, but mine has been running for 5+ years. whenever i shop for a motherboard i pretty much just go to Newegg, search by cheapest, and make sure it has the features i need, and at least 4 eggs (reviews).

I had a problem with Biostar once, but it was under warranty. Althought I could not wait 2 weeks and got an Asus. I like Asus bios, so much better and more reliable.
For $15 more AR($10) you can get this gigabyte board with USB3.0 and HDMI.

on the cpu, i am definitely turned off on AMD products because of their performance and heat. intel has crushed them into oblivion. Perhaps they have something up their sleeve, but they better do it fast before their stock price reaches penny stock levels.

Still strongly considering upgrading to this processor though. Are you going to stick a USB 3 adapter into a 3-1/2" drive slot or are you also upgrading the old box?

I actually already upgraded via PCI slot to 4 USB 3.0 ports but I would prefer native USB 3.0 capabilities. I will likely wait to make all the upgrades including the case for all at once and make most of my old components into a pure htpc. I'm in no rush I guess.
