So does this mean:
1. You can cancel within 14days AND keep the phone or
2. You have to wait BEYOND the 14day period to cancel in order to keep the device? Thus paying a prorated amount of ~$24

I plan on using this with Ringplus...

They activate it before shipping it to you. You can't receive the phone, never activate it and keep it for completely free. Also, about any chats. A lot of people over at SD's are posting their chats and being told different things. You're free to think what you want but I would take what you're told in a chat with a grain of salt.

Thanks OP!

In for one! It looks like there's 3 possibilities: 1 Cancel and keep the phone for free 2. Cancel and keep the phone for some prorated amount ~$25 3. Cancel and keep the phone for $45. All three are deals to me, I'll use it for apps and music.

I thought both Sprint and Verizon are CDMA? I know Sprint used to be.

† I'm no expert but I think LTE is LTE - and it requires a SIM card - I dont have any LTE devices to verify this on, but I bet someone does that can.....

pulled this off wikipedia.
Initially, CDMA operators planned to upgrade to rival standards called UMB and WiMAX, but all the major CDMA operators (such as Verizon, Sprint and MetroPCS in the United States, Bell and Telus in Canada, au by KDDI in Japan, SK Telecom in South Korea and China Telecom/China Unicom in China) have announced that they intend to migrate to LTE after all.†

if this works, then you can basically also get iphone 4s for $100 without contract.
Something must be wrong here.
maybe Sprint will ask you to play the activation fee if you cancel the plan.
who knows what they will do.....

where? i don't think so. i'm in 4 2 and you can get the iphone 4 preowned (not s) for 99 + 45 for the first month - but deff no 4s w/o contract for 100; look closer and let me know if I'm wrong. see shop > no contract

Phone with no contract... where do you go wrong?

I just read on another deal site that Sprint will "ruin your credit" and "put your ESN on blacklist." The thread on that site is 55 pages long and it was just started yesterday.

Why so mean? If it is price error. It is their own fault. They can just cancel the orders.

jonyah said:   Good timing on this. My EVO LTE has gone kaput and I don't want to pay to fix it. I only have about 5 months left on my contract till I tell Sprint to bite me. I can pick this up, deactivate and reactivate for my real line getting a new phone for no more than $45, hopefully less if I cancel quickly.
††
I could've written this exact post, except I'm eligible for an "early upgrade" of my broken LTE on Jan. 1st. I wonder how quickly we'd be able to cancel and then activate this on regular Sprint service. I'm pretty sure my EVO LTE just needs a screen which I can get for $50 (it has the pink screen of death now).

Decisions . . . decisions.

Yes. No SS# is required for reporting to credit bureaus, hasn't been for a long time. Your name will suffice. (Perhaps you've never heard of LexisNexis...)

In other words, if 'stealing' the phone is your intention, you might think otherwise. I think it would be reasonable to at least pay the first month of service. Otherwise it seems to me they could make an adjustment and you will end up owing money which if not paid will be reported to the credit bureau eventually just like any other bad debt.

I'm pretty sure that "chat" with Jessica refers to the 14 day satisfaction guarantee. On this deal, we purchase a phone for $0.00, and presume (by Sprint) to need a month of service for $45. If we do not use that service, and call to cancel it, we are only financially liable for the prorated service charges.
Remeber, you PURCHASED the phone for $0.00. There is no written obligation to purchase service to get the phone for $0.00.
Relax...

Plan: Offer ends 4/10/2014. Sprint As You Go plans do not require an annual contract. No plan discounts apply. Certain phones require activation on a select plan. Plans above are for domestic use only within the U.S. unless stated otherwise and include Caller ID, Voicemail, Call Waiting, Numeric Paging, Threeway Calling and Conditional Call Forwarding (*73, *74 and *28) while on the Nationwide Sprint Network. Immediate Call Forwarding (*72): 20Ę/min. Messaging includes text, picture and video. All features not available on all phones. Depending on your service plan, certain applications that are preinstalled on your device may not be available or operational. Examples of these applications include, but are not limited to, Sprint TV, Sprint Music, GPS and Mobile Hotspot applications. You also may not be able to purchase other subscription-based third-party content from application stores (e.g., the Google Play store) to bill directly to your account. "Monthly add-ons or plans must remain active on the line of service for a full month after activating; no proration applies and refunds will not be issued for unused days during the billing cycle."

That's the last sentence of the paragraph for "General Terms." So you pay for the whole month even if you cancel within the month you're paying for. My head is spinning from all the assumptions and misinformation being posted between these two deal sites.
