While superb sound quality is the ultimate goal of any home audio system, the realities of budget and even aesthetics often force compromises in sound quality. Well, the time for compromise is over. Now you can have it all - great sound, great looks, small size, and an unbelievably low price! The Monoprice Premium 5.1-Channel Home Theater System surpasses all expectations for sound quality in a small package. The four satellite and the single center speakers each use a 3" polypropylene mid-range driver and a 3/4" aluminum dome tweeter. They can handle up 100 watts of power and have an impedance of 8 ohms. The satellite and center channel speakers handle frequencies from 110Hz to 20KHz ±3dB, with the crossover between the mid-range and tweeter drivers set to 3.5KHz. The powered subwoofer features an 8" downward firing speaker driven by a 200 watt amplifier. It handles frequencies from 30Hz to 150Hz (-10dB) and uses a variable crossover from 40-150Hz. The satellites measure only about 6.9" x 4.3" x 4.3" (HWD) and weigh about 2.9 lbs each, making them easy to mount almost anywhere. The center channel speaker measures about 4.3" x 10.2" x 4.3" (HWD) and weighs 3.0 lbs. Both the satellite and center speakers are equipped with a universal 1/4" threaded insert mounting options and have rear-firing ports, so they sound best when there is some breathing room behind them. The subwoofer is a 12.6" cube and weighs about 20 lbs. It features four large rubber feet, which keep the downward firing driver off the floor. It includes both line and speaker level stereo inputs, so it can be used with any amplifier. A phase control switch on the back allows you to adjust the phase of the subwoofer in relation to the rest of the system. So when looking for speakers for your home audio system, make the no compromise choice and enjoy superb sound quality and a stunning sound stage with the Monoprice Premium 5.1-Channel Home Theater System!

So Monoprice has there own line of electronics, and they are being sold at Buy.com?

I didn't know they sold things at Buy.com but they have had their own line forever. I also believe these are very highly rated too for the price.

this is an awesome home theater system at a great price.

how premium can they be from Monoprice? i mean really. how are they? rebadged?

They're rebadged Energy speakers. About a year ago someone found "Energy" written in the manuals upon delivery. Immediately after it was marked Out of Stock, then it reappeared. They regularly get good reviews, particularly when they're at sub-$200 prices.

Is this the model this product was based off of?

In that case, the reviews are definitely not all positive.  Multiple reviews for the Energy branded version sold on Amazon reveal flaws and some serious quality control problems.

I'd probably be in 4 a set of these if it weren't for the ugly Monoprice logo. I'd get an itch to replace these within 6 months of having to look at that, a net loss for me!

They were not rebadged but did contain many if not all the same components. Energy made some threats and Monoprice made a new version that is not the same though close and a few reviews say the new ones sound better than the old ones and even the Energy. Only caveat with these is the one year warranty, but Monoprice has had stellar support for both me and my brother when we had problems. A 30" LCD he got in April started acting up in January. There were no replacements in stock so they took it back and refunded him all of his money - 9 months later. That's awesome. He ended up buying a newer version of the 30" from them and it is better.
