Paid $40 more, less $13.50 in rewards, at Staples after price-matching to Amazon just 4 weeks ago, and it's been working great. Great price.

Sweet deal.

Anyone know the difference between 830 and 840 series ssd?

I heard that Samsung 830 ssd are more reliable than 840.

Samsung 830 is MLC. Samsung 840 EVO is TLC.

Straight-up Anandtech bench comparison between the 512GB SSD 830 and the 500GB 840 EVO

The 840 EVO is generally faster and consumes less power.

The 840 EVO using TLC will be rated for fewer write cycles over its lifetime, but assuming 50 GiB of writes per day, Anandtech calculated the lifetime of the drive at 31.67 years. YMMV of course. The controller is more likely to fail before you hit end of life of writes.

And seriously, you're going to write 50 GiB per day? Anand from Anandtech measured his usage. On a heavy day of use, he wrote 7 GiB to the drive.

I've got the 250GB version of this that I bought for $165 shipped barely 6 months ago. That was an excellent deal at the time.

These are great drives. Very fast and very reliable.

I would buy one of these in a heartbeat, except I can't think of a reason I would need the extra storage just yet.
