This is for audiophiles -- those who want a very good single-disc (and single purpose!) device. Well constructed, durable, etc. That said, complete waste of money for 99.9% of Fatwallet users, but for those who want one, very good price.
Seems like a good price/performance option if it fits your need. I've probably bought my last dedicated CD player though years ago. Ripping and streaming the loss-less data to networked DAC & amp is rapidly replacing such needs nowadays.

Does it play DVD-A? Why do we need 192kHz 24bit DAC for regular CD? I don't think it does either DVD-A or SACD....I might be in if it would play both of those formats, but as just a CD player I'm kind of meh.
Anyone with a decent stereo has a good DAC already, either outboard, or in receiver. So all the CD player does is read digital data, and provide it via SPDIF. Except for error correction, no difference between $50 DVD player, and this CD only player.
If you care about audio on optical discs, why wouldn't you get something that reads DVD-A and/or SACD?
