Even at $35 total this is still about $15 cheaper then the 500GB version of this drive anywhere else. †Then again if you are willing to wait you can get 1TB externals for $50 sometimes, haven't seen one in a bit though.

Just my feedback for the price, its a great deal, for the drive, well I have 3 or 4 external WD drives and they all died in under a year, one of them was RMA'd 2 times, when it broke the 3rd time, it went in the trash
Why I oughta...

I don't know if you can crack it open, but Google for "open Western Digital " or "Western Digital inside" for instructions, but pry with a dull, thin knife, not a screwdriver because it gouges the plastic. †Here's a video showing the inside of a WD Passport portable and the USB-only internal drive. †I don't know why the guy breaks the circuit board: †http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_B2l5IzMJw
The HDD inside is almost sure to be USB-only.

Not bad after the $15 back from AMEX (requires $50 spend). Out of pocket ends up being about $21 with paid shipping. †
