I don't really need it but I couldn't resist.

How did you get FS?  Cheapest shipping I could get was $4.96.  Kills it for me.

They changed the deal apparently.  This had free shipping before.  They must have realized the deal was a little too good. Even at $35 total this is still about $15 cheaper then the 500GB version of this drive anywhere else.  Then again if you are willing to wait you can get 1TB externals for $50 sometimes, haven't seen one in a bit though.

Now this is weird, I reloaded the page one more time and the free shipping option popped back up.

Said free shipping, added to cart, free shipping disappeared. Looked for Shoprunner, not there.

In for one, thanks.

In for one - Quick portable little backup drive for $35 shipped before CashBack.

Did you get free shipping?

Anyone know if you can crack this open to remove the drive, or it this has the usb controller directly connected to the HDD board?

Just my feedback for the price, its a great deal, for the drive, well I have 3 or 4 external WD drives and they all died in under a year, one of them was RMA'd 2 times, when it broke the 3rd time, it went in the trash

I don't know if you can crack it open, but Google for "open Western Digital " or "Western Digital inside" for instructions, but pry with a dull, thin knife, not a screwdriver because it gouges the plastic.  Here's a video showing the inside of a WD Passport portable and the USB-only internal drive.  I don't know why the guy breaks the circuit board:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_B2l5IzMJw

The HDD inside is almost sure to be USB-only.

No free shipping for me

Not bad after the $15 back from AMEX (requires $50 spend). Out of pocket ends up being about $21 with paid shipping.
