FIGHT MALE PATTERN BALDNESS!

I ordered two 100 tablet boxes of their Finasteride 5mg (Generic Proscar) for $22 each. Shipping was a painful $15. So my total was $59 for 200 pills. I ordered on 5/24 and received on 6/16. But I only got half of my order and a nice letter stating that they had an overwhelming response and would fulfill the rest of my order soon. I just checked their site and they upped the price. $69.50 for 1 box of 100. This is still competitive with CyberMedicineStore I think.

blahbooboo2 said: Drugstore.com has 30 proscar for $75. If you do 4ths (I do 8ths since I believe .625mg is as effective and I want to take the minimum) it will be ~18/month, at 8ths it's ~ $9/month. At these prices, why bother with worrying about the whole quality control etc. Yes yes, I know, Cipla reddy are FDA approved facilities or something like that. Go save your $5 if you like.
xyankee said: You want to be VERY careful with pill splitters. Yes, Proscar has 5x the active ingredient of Propecia, but this is *NOT* necessarily distributed evenly in each pill. The active ingredients make up a SMALL portion of the composition of the pill. Accordingly, if you split a Proscar pill into 4, in all likelihood there will be different quanitites of the active ingredient in each portion. This will reduce the effectiveness of the medication or, at worst, you'll be giving your body shots of finisteride in 5mg doses on some days and none on others. This is when the side effect of sexual dysfunction becomes a very good possibility. Most men's bodies can handle 1mg of finisteride without any dysfunction, but up that to 5mg and some level of dsyfunction is almost guaranteed. Is it worth that risk to save a bit of money? That's up to you.

DO NOT PURCHASE FROM PHARMACY GEOFF!!! I had fraudulent charges only a day after placing an order. I should have listened to the other person in this thread that claimed the same thing.

Propecia (finasteride) has been approved by the FDA for generic, but haven't seen a generic version out yet by anyone. Hopefully by end of 2006.
**************************************** Why would you bother ordering any drug where you even remotely question the content? Especially when you can get Proscar 5mg (the same drug as Propecia) in your own country from your doctor! After you split it 5 ways (or 8 ways), it is cheaper than ordering from an online out of the country shop. For example, in country $75 was enough for pills to last me almost 4 years after my doc gave me a rx for generic Proscar.
As for drug distribution in the pill, this has been responded to in this thread -- specifically, drugs are evenly distributed in pills because pills are NOT made individually but rather in big sheets that are then cut. Also, I know of many people told by doctors to buy pill splitters to split medication when the only dosages turned out to be too high. AND, this ignores the pharmaco-kenetics of drugs (i.e. the time it lasts in the system). If these charts are even remotely true, you can see that Finesteride lasts in the blood stream a set time anyway.

This is a bit like drug dealing. They give you a little at the start but then you feel compelled to keep buying it. But there is an alternative...
Propecia is the brand name for a drug called Finasteride. This is available much more cheaply on the Internet. You can get 8 months supply (Cipla brand) from here for about $40 total. Buy the 5mg tablets and cut them in 4.
BTW I can't vouch for the effectiveness of this drug. Find more info here.

I think this promo has been going on for a while. Normally, when you order the prescription, it will attach a $10 mail-in coupon to the supply. I don't know if they are going to give you $10 first or just $10 mail-in rebate form when you order.
I've been ordering propecia for my brother-in-law who lives in another country. He claims that it does really work. Don't know if the side effect of potential impotence is really true although me and my wife have been teasing him about not able to produce offspring because of his vanity
I am looking forward to going bald....it will save me at least 10 minutes which means 10 more minutes of sleep in the morning because you don't have to worry about washing hair.
I think I will be bald by 40. I am worried that this stuff will grow back hair as a side effect. I don't mind being bald, if the alternative is looking like a chimp
I hear this stuff works, but it doesn't hurt to try topicals first.
I noticed my hairline recede a little. At 18, I started using WalMart generic (Equate brand) minoxidil extra strength, 5%. 21 now, and no further damage. I never let it get to the point where it looked like I was losing my hair, so I'm not sure if I was just paranoid and used it, making me think it works, or if it really did the trick to stop the hair loss. Either way, its like $25 for a few bottles, which last me about 3 months each. I call it cheap insurance

I'm 26 and noticed in pictures that the center front portion of my head was losing hair. After using Minoxidil for about 2 months, the hair was coming back. Now there's a nice carpet of hair on top of my head. Uggh I feel bad for the guys who have a bird's nest or lose some here and some there.
As for baldness looking cool, yeah it does. Just ask Sean Connery or Vin Diesel. They get all the chicks and they have money! I'd trade my hair for a little machismo if it meant getting the chicks like they do.

The problem with the topical is it can be irritating for some people because you put it on the scalp. Propecia works differently by blocking an enzyme. Almost everyone I know are taking it to slow down what they have lost or to prevent it from happening.

Thanx !! once again FW and a FW'r has saved me money !! I have been getting 5 mg tablets from IAG in the UK for like 3 years now .. they charge 135.00 USD + 5 shipping for the same amount available through this company for 35.00 !!! (60 tablets, I cut them into 1/4's with a 3 dollar splitter from Walgreen)
if u r really interested in slowing/stopping this process then using both propecia and rogaine at the same time is the way to go although more expensive. They work by different mechanisms and there is a nonhuman study that suggests they have some sort of an additive effect. No human studies b/c of marketing reasons. It is true that proscar and propecia have the same active ingredient and one can cut the proscar up (although it isnt easy to split it more than once). Since proscar is indicated for a different medical condition some people try to get their insurance to pay for it. I dont recommend that since it is fraud. If u pay for the proscar out of your pocket than it isnt fraud and is currently cheaper. If u really want to look like u have grown more hair then u need to go for a hair transplant since these medications typically do not grow a lot of new hair (just stop the loss and maybe grow some hair). Of course all of these things can be big money in the end.
you are right and generic minoxidil is the way to go I also use in addition to proscar and minoxidil, saw palmetto extract as it also inhibits DHT production .. just recentl;y started this so I'm not sure if it is useful or additive yet .. my personal hair loss is very minimal but I want to keep it that way as long as possible
Yeah male pattern baldness is losing hair up top? If I'm losing hair in the front that is not male pattern baldness? And propecia / Rogain one works on male patter baldness?

Thx >>
loss in the front is a type of pattern baldness and both remedies state that efficacy for this type has not been proven .. However, I have this type and have found that the min.\fin combo significantly slows\stops this loss ymmv of course
