If anyone knows of a doctor in the Washington DC area who will prescribe Proscar for make pattern baldness, can you please PM and let me know? My understanding is that certain doctors are reluctant to do it unless you have prostate issues. I have been using Propecia, but the price keeps going up, so I'd like to switch to Proscar.

Unitedpharmacies NEVER included a instruction leaflet :
selling pills without leaflets,as Unitedpharmacies does, sorry even if you do not have any experience with pharmaceutics, this is illegal, and not realistic.
Do you really thing that pharmaceutical manufacturer sell their medecine without explaining the possible risks of side effects by taking their medecine?
If it were like that they would be ruined by all the trials and indemnification they would have to pay.
Cause a leaflet is a contract between the patient and the manufacturer.Buy getting the leaflet you agree to the risk of the side effects on the leaflet when taking the medecine. So you do not have to pay an indemnification,if you get a side effect written on the leaflet.
All the medecine I got from Unitedpharmacies was without leaflet.Which is very, very likely to be fake. But you will not get some side effect from that, cause they are fakes.

saw your post, was wondering if the caveat you gave for pill cutting applies to Finasteride, which I use for hair treatment.

Thanks in Advance

The answer is yes, you can cut it into quarters and that them that way. The dose of each will be slightly higher than 1 mg, but not won't cause problem for most people.

But there are a few caveats.
(1) finasteride 5 mg is not FDA approved for treating baldness, not all physicians are willing to prescribe it to you off-label.
(2) insurance might not pay for it for that use

The cutting part:
(1) cutting into quarters is going to be hard to do accurately. Buy a good pill cutter if you are going to do it.
(2) you need a round tablet to cut into equal quarters, but most generic ones out there are not, so ask your pharmacist.
(3) drug absorb moisture once you cut it open. Don't cut a bunch all at once, just 1 or 2. Keep the bottle closed and in a dry place.

And, a warning

The drug is coated to prevent absorption through skin. If you cut it, the drug will be exposed. Do not let any women of child-bearing age touch it.

Good luck.

Just about used up my 400 pills of Finpecia (Proscar Brand in the US or generic finasteride)from Alldaychemist. I purchased this batch last year around this time and the results have been positive. Hopefully the next batch (500 pills this time since the shipping is $25 whether you buy a little or a lot) will be as effective at curtailing my hair lost.

FYI, I had been using Rogaine on and off along with finasteride for a few years now. Got lazy decided to not refill my finasteride prescription about 1.5 years ago. The hair lost came back so I quickly jumped back on the bandwagon and the hair came back. Stopped Rogaine about 6 months ago and only went with the Finpecia from Alldaychemist and saw no noticable change. Will probably keep this regiment of just finasteride for the forseeable future unless something changes.

has anyone used AllDayChemist for anything other than Finistrade/Propecia? Anyone tried any of their Viagra or similar products?

google medical reports about finasteride (propecia, proscar)

There's a lot of talk (and some research) that people taking finasteride have less of a chance of developing prostate cancer. BUT... people who get prostate cancer while taking finasteride have a more aggressive and deadly type of prostate cancer.
It looks like the studies were done on the 5mg dose of finasteride which is Proscar used to treat enlarging prostate (benign prostate hypertrophy). I don't see any studies done on propecia, the 1mg dose of finasteride.
But many doctors and internet say Propecia 1mg artificially suppresses the PSA blood test so there is no early warning for prostate cancer. By the time someone on finasteride has a PSA indicating prostate cancer, it's too late.

So today my dermatologist, said I should stop taking propecia, because it screws up the early warning system for prostate cancer. I guess it's better to be bald than dead. Generic Rogaine is real cheap now. It's about $5 or $6 per bottle everywhere. And all this talk about the prostate is really getting me pissed off (haha).

Rogaine makes my head itch and flake, will Rogaine foam do the same?

Anybody got a coupon or a good deal on Rogaine foam?
