Plextor $20 Rebate Requires Original UPC

Best_Buy $30 Rebate
"Go to www.bestbuy.com/rebates and enter the requested information found on your Rebate Form and receipt or order confirmation page."
"No cutting labels, making copies, mailing, - just simply enter your information online."
Submit this one online if you want . . .

Don't submit the online $30 rebate as mentioned immediately above unless you're purchasing online for delivery or pick-up. That rebate is only good for online purchases. You'll only be wasting time and a stamped envelope.

The box has a sticker that reads 20 TDK 8X DVD-R's inside.

Merry Christmas.

Hot for a Plextor

Why is Plextor drive so expensive?

zc8 said: Why is Plextor drive so expensive?

Because it's a plextor.

lesser if use 25% BB AMEX WC

Both rebates won't work as one is a BB.COM rebate. I suppose there will be a In-Store $30 tomorrow. So, combining that with the $20 On-Line rebate would be a huge YMMV. I wouldn't count on that $20 going through.

It doesn't look like a BB rebate
Plextor Rebate
Dept. PLD
PO Box 100451
White Bear Lake, MN 551100451
1-866-360-2346

But it requires Original UPC . . . so depending on the new rebate rules and address. That is why it is added to bottom as possible, and not used in the Title price.

I understand. Even $50.99 is a good price for a Plextor (BenQ in this case). I plan on picking one up as it is BLACK and has free 20 DL discs. What I was trying to point out was that the rebate has Bestbuy.com written in the background. And I think tomorrow's $30 rebate will also probably need the original UPC. I'd love to get both the $30 and the $20 rebates.

is the free 20 pack of DL disc in the plextor box itself or separate? Do you know what brand the free discs is?

$20 rebate is definitely from Plextor. Too bad there's no way around the original UPC requirement though. Still a good deal, though, considering the 20 DL discs...

Maybe Plextor is starting to clear stock of this rebadged BenQ DW1640 to make way for the new PX-760 (and who said 16X was the physical spin limit of carbonate-encased DVDs?)

littletemple said: is the free 20 pack of DL disc in the plextor box itself or separate? The funny thing is that Plextor DVD burners suck at this point, average burn quality and lots of quality control issues. But then this model isn't even a real Plextor, it's a rebadged Benq 1640, so you are in luck. A nice deal considering the cost of DL discs and the fact that the Benq 1640 is a great drive and it is almost impossible to find now.

Taken from CDFreaks:

"...the Plextor PX-740A is a rebadged BenQ DW1640, and it is a good burner. However you cannot use the advanced features of Plextools Professional since it's not a "real" Plextor drive. You will not be able to run PI/PO quality scanning, AutoStrategy, Gigarec, Varirec and other advanced cd features. If that's what you're looking for, I would suggest to get the real one such as PX-716A or wait a couple more weeks for PX-755 or maybe PX-760."

PX-740A Review

Benq 1640 supports PI/PIF scanning, so this drive will, although you may have to flash it to a 1640 (which would improve the drive anyway).

totally clueless about dvd burner's so is this better than nec-3550a or 3540a ish drives

minghi said: totally clueless about dvd burner's so is this better than nec-3550a or 3540a ish drives

That's basically a toss-up. The burn quality will be fairly close, the 1640 will make a slightly more accurate PI/PIF testing drive. NEC has great firmware support in the form of modified/hacked firmware, Benq does a pretty good job with their official firmware releases (although the latest couple of releases have had some bugs). NEC has always made very durable drives, Benq has had some mild quality control issues in the past but the 1640 has been reliable. I have several of both Benq and NEC drives, they both make excellent burners so you won't go wrong with either.

This deal just got upgraded to hot . . . online is showing $20 and $30 rebate both valid. Online price is $99.99 - $30 MIR - $20 MIR = $50 AR
The in store price should be $99.99 - $10 IR - $9 (10% Coupon) = $80.99 - $30 MIR - $20 MIR = $30.99 . . . plus the ad states you get 20 free DL DVD's.

Rebates are here

LOL. yes, outside your head. Thanks

and thanks krazymop and BostonRon too

how about getting back on topic?

Quick Summary updated with $50 in Rebates . . . both good!

the deal is up online now and seems like the $30 rebate only applies to online purchase therefor the $10 in-store coupon will not work here. Also no mention of the 20 free DL blanks.

^This is what I'm wondering also.
It says "Copy of the Online Order Receipt" so is an online order for instore pickup considered the same as an online order?

Also, what time zone is BB online ordering system on. I'm in CA, do I have to wait til midnight Pacific time?

pipebender said: the deal is up online now and seems like the $30 rebate only applies to online purchase therefor the $10 in-store coupon will not work here. Also no mention of the 20 free DL blanks.

I was trying to make sense of that myself, I'm not familiar with WorstBuy's rebates. But the thing is, even in their own printed ad it lists a $30 rebate, so I don't know if that is actually the same as the $30 rebate listed on their site or if it is going to be something different in-store. And the 20 free DL discs is still a mystery, the printed ad also lists them, but are they inside the box, added on, ?

This looks like it may be a great deal, but I'm still not certain on all of the rebates. The $30 rebate listed on their site requires 'Copy of the Online Order Receipt'. It goes without saying that you won't be getting one of those in-store. However, it remains to be seen if the in-store $30 rebate will void the $20 rebate or vice-versa.

you can submit this one online even if you do it in the store, besides the store should print a rebate for the $30 since it is in the AD.

The drive on website is at $89.99 with $50 MIR so the deal should be
$89.99 - $30 BB MIR - $20 Manuf Rebate = $39.99 + Tax. Am i correct?

NO WAY! 18X? I won't believe it until I see it and try it!

Looks like they did update the price to reflect the $10 IR. Still no mention of the free DL DVD . . . so yes, $39.99 if you buy online.

If you go to the store tomorrow and buy instead of online, you can use the 10% coupon making it $31 AR/AC. Still not sure how you get the 20 DL DVD's as advertised. The DVD's alone are worth the $31.

Let me help you make some sense out of this. BB is very picky about their rebates. If you buy online, you send in the online rebate form. If you buy in-store, you send in the form printed from the register. I have had rebates denied by BB because I bought in-store but try to send in with the online form.

To me, this deal is actually two deals. One for the store (with the free DL disks) and one online. If you buy in-store, it's $51 for the drive + the 20 disks. If you buy online, it's $40 ($90 - $30 rebate - $20 rebate) for the drive alone. Probably better getting the in-store deal.

However, if you're like me, and can't make it to the store in the AM, buy online with in-store pickup. This still qualifies you for the rebates. When I get to the store, I'll try to get them to give me the free DVDs without re-ringing as an in-store purchase (since this may invalidate of the MIRs requiring the original UPC). If they must re-ring, so be it. Paying ~$10 for 20 DL DVDs is still a good deal. But buy now online for pick-up before they run out and so you can get the 20 DVDs.

I hope I can clear this up.

Ok, in the weekly ad, this is what is stated

Includes 20-pack of double-layer discs
Reg. Price $99.99 - $10.00 Instant Savings = $89.99 - $30 Mail In Rebate = $59.99

So they forgot to account for the $20 Rebate in the Ad.

Go to the store, use the coupon, pay $80.99 in the store. You should get the 20 DL DVD's on the spot somehow (that is what is in the ad) and then a $30 rebate will print out, and maybe a $20 rebate as well. That is $50 in rebates, even though the ad states $30. Comes out to $30.99 if you go in store.

Dude, what are you talking about? That math that you put up there is correct. However, BB didn't forget about the $20 rebate unless it does print out at the register. If that the case, then one of the MIR must allow a copy of the UPC. Otherwise, there may be a different online deal than the in-store deal. BB always does this (separate online and in-store deals).

The $20 online requires the original UPC. I'm assuming the $30 rebate that prints in the store will ALSO require the original UPC.

scoobiedoobie said: The $20 online requires the original UPC. I'm assuming the $30 rebate that prints in the store will ALSO require the original UPC.

But the $30 MIR online does NOT require the original UPC.
