buy a x1900xt, dont buy a x1900xtx
or buy a x1900xt crossfire, that way if you want to go with a crossfire down the line, you can just buy the regular card.

irev210.....
If you can look at 530.00 for a friggin video card and say "wow, thats cheap", then I BEG for you to sit down and evaluate where you are in life and your position in it. I fear that you have seriously lost the concept of the value of money to a frightening level. Please, stop and gather yourself. |

I think $530 is ridiculous too but please shut up. You have no business in that man's dealings. |

lol for all we know, $500 would be small change for some of thse guys... *cough* drug dealers *cough*
As for me, spending about $200 for a video card is already at the limits of my available spending. I dont make much money per month.
Onto the cards:
Awesome cards no doubt. They will blast out any games available and will be available for the next few months. Like all video cards though, they will be outperformed in less than a year's time. |

I got in on this deal about 3 weeks ago when the 1900XTs just came out, and even though Dell said it was backordered and there was a 1-2 week shipping estimate, it shipped the next day.
Has anyone checked to see if the coupon works with anything else? |

Or I would just go for the 1900XT
As for performance out of the box goes, there's not a huge difference. You essentially pay $100 extra to have a factory overclocked XT. |

Cropping from a review.
Some advice, keep a couple of things in mind though:
You need to play games at the highest resolutions. You need to have a need for playing with image quality settings enabled You need to bare in mind that you need a screamingly fast PC in terms of your processor as a high-end graphics card needs to be bound to a high-end processor. I'm Talking Athlon 3600+ and upwards and Pentium 4 3.6 GHz as a bare minimum.
Do you not plan to fulfill all three of these requirements? For example are you intent/constrained to play games at 1280x1024 with 4xAA and 8xAF? Then please do not bother to buy this card. Stick with a Radeon X1800 XL, GeForce 7800 GT or anything in that range as the high-end graphics cards really require such a demanding environment to show off their fullest potential.
High end graphics cards have price wise moved into a price range where it's not accessible anymore for the guys that would really like to buy them. See there's a certain threshold that is constantly being moved upwards, and in all honestly here personally I would never buy a graphics card over 400 bucks.

If you were going to upgrade your card in 6 months, then I'd agree with you. If not, then there is a very good reason for buying a high end card. I bought a 9700 Pro back in the day, and it lasted a very long time. Sometimes it's even close to the 6600GT.
With CPUs, you can spend double the money and only get 20% more speed in the best case. For video cards, spending twice the money very often gets you twice the video card speed or even more. Very often you'll find the X1900XT is four times as fast as the X1600XT, which retails for about $150.
These are amazing prices. I'm really close to jumping on this, as I like 3D coding as well. |

I hope my 4800+ can handle it. I ordered the 1900 xt crossfire edition and the 1900xt.
Now who's buying my 2 BFG 7800GTX's and Asus SLI board? $900 shipped.
BTW, thanks for the review link. Good read. |

Still debating, which one to buy...
$282.18 for the BFG 7800 GT or $436.45 for the ATI X1900 XT... is the extra $154.27 worth paying? |

No. If you're gonna pay extra get TWO 7800GTs for $125 more. |
