edit: Woah! Sorry guys. CompUSA is where it's at. --------------------------------------------------------------- 2nd edit: Here is a list of some other deals that are to take place on the 19th at CompUSA. For some reason, someone moved this post to the deals discussion. Should I have listed them all separate?

The MIR is only for $50 and it is a mfr rebate, not CUSA. Besides, I think CUSA would be faster than HP/Compaq. I remember getting software rebates from CUSA fairly fast in the FAR hayday. Also, we've received our $5 USR Router rebates (only about 2 mos.) already.

$419.99 - $170.00 IR - $50 Mfr.MIR = $199.99 (not sure of tax)

Does it on the next week's flyer? If it is, I need it for BVG.
Totally decent deal. Ya it was smoking HOT when it was $125 AR a few months ago but those kind of deals only come around once in a blue moon.
This is a socket 939 64bit sempron Radeon 200m dual channel chipset PCI express
Dont know why people gave it red...for $200 AR this is a very nice deal. You cant build one cheaper with these specs.

nice find. just add a 19" lcd (<$200 from previous threads) to this and this system will be smokin a really nice complete starter computer system for alittle over $400 (+tax and after MIR)... Green for you

Smoking! Decided not to keep my last one and sold it for $350.

Still wating the $200 rebate back to last 1710nx deal,CompUSA website shows it needs to take another 2 months.

Same here. Bought 2 during the last deal. Still have another unopened one in the garage

I didn't realize the SR1710NX was a socket 939 Sempron. You can't even buy these retail, which makes the system all that more intriguing.

Yes, be wary. The CUSA rebates on the last 1710NX/1610NX deal in January have yet to be seen. First they held off validation until the 3-week return period expired. Then they said the rebates will be "mailed" in another 10-12 weeks provided the "request was properly completed", whatever that means exactly in "rebate-speak".

You're going to get your money back period. I will never understand why people complain if a rebate takes a month or two longer. Get a job. Some of us have THOUSANDS of dollars of rebates pending. Sometimes I have $5k total pending. Its pretty clear that anyone who complains about rebates does not have a job or any kind of income.
CompUSA had this deal in January I bought 1 on Saturday and went back for a price match on Sunday. No Problem, it was 125.00 back then with tax on 379.00 I"m running it as a HTPC. Windows MCE rocks never miss a show......

Besides which OP said the price is "$419.99 -$170.00 IR - $50 Mfr.MIR = $199.99".
You are only dealing with a $50 HP rebate which will arrive in 4-6 weeks. This is not a CUSA rebate. Unless you are afraid of instant rebates. Picked up a SX1610 at OD during the Holidays for $227w/tax. The $50 Rebate came sometime in February.
This is a great system for the price. Only thing its has to have out of the box is more memory. Unless you think 256mb is enough.
You cannot build this system, with legal software, for the same money. Maybe even with not so legal software or freeware. At least not without LOTS of FAR parts and PM's and trips to many stores. When I bought my 1610 I figured it would be about $400 for the MATCHING parts and software from Newegg.

This is a nice machine. I got one back in Jan when it was $125AR and I'm seriously thinking of getting another this time. GREEN for OP!
With some additional memory, this is a very capable machine and is very quiet. The integrated ATI Xpress 200 is capable of running the new Aero Glass UI when Windows Vista comes out. I am a Vista beta tester and yesterday I put it on my sr1710nx and verified it does run Glass.
<brag-warning> My January sr710nx deal: Presario sr1710nx $125AR (CUSA) + (two) Kingston 512MB DDR $5 ea. PM+AR (OM) + Hauppauge PVR-150 $10 (AR + exchange of unwanted Christmas gift) (CUSA) + Beyond TV software FAR (Outpost) ------------------------------------------- = Killer budget Media/PVR PC $145 (dual boots to Vista) <end-brag>
this is a good computer, i bought one for the $125 AR price back in january like some of you mentioned. it was a STEAL then and it's a STEAL now at $200. EXCELLENT computer. the only problem was memory. 256 is NOT enough. it was running ridiculously slow when i gave it to my parents. so i bought a gig of ram for it (total cost for that was under $10 AR PM). after i installed that it was VERY fast. like night and day. so if you get in on this deal, spend $50 and upgrade the memory, even if it is only 512mb more, IT NEEDS IT.

hmmm, sorry for the dumb question...how many internal hard drives can I put in one of these?
Got my usual postcard in the mail stating my rebate was void for not having UPC symbol and also postmark past time allowed. I called the number and got runaround from the CSR. Hung up and called again. Same story. I was told to resubmit everything again. I flat out told them I refused to do that! They had that information and so did I (copies of submitted info). Went on and on for over 10 minutes. At that point I told CSR I had had enough of this rebate hassle and this was the last straw! I demanded to talk to a supervisor. Long story short, I didn't cave in, refused to submit anything else to them, and demanded my two rebates. Interesting, 4 days later came both rebate checks ($70 and $50) for the printer (with bundle). Time to start putting your foot down on these stupid rebate centers! Wow, this was the 1st rebate i ever got back. Good work in getting yours!
