Very good choices.

I have the 24-70L, 70-200 2.8 IS. Also have owned the 10-22 when I had a 20D. All are great lenses. I upgraded to the 5D so had to sell the 10-22.

I'm hoping to add the 50 1.4 to my collection for some nice low light stuff.

What a wonderful collection! No wonder you need so many coupons!

Grablife said:OP refers to Canon 5D as $2,700. There are no reputable dealers selling this camera at $2,700. B&H sells this for $2,970. Dell is selling it for a whopping $3,299 and the 15% off code does not work for cameras.Dell Home started offering a new 10% discount on the Canon 5D and Rebel XT today. For those in their few remaining non-taxed states (Colorado, District of Columbia, Indiana, Louisiana, New Mexico, South Dakota and Vermont) such as myself, the 5D can now be had for a final price of $2489.16:

    3299 - 10% = 2969.10 - 35/300 = 2934.10 - 2% DPA = 2875.42 - 3% FC = 2789.16 - 300 MIR = 2489.16

I am in the market for a 5D body, and this is now the best deal I know of from an authorized Canon dealer. For those who Dell nicks with tax--just about everyone now--the best deal I know of is at OneCall, where the final delivered price would be $2,567.99 AC (SPRING06 = $125 off) and MIR. But the camera is OOS at both places, but can be backordered at both.

Who knows what Friday will bring in the way of new Dell digital camera deals. Currently Dell is specifying a 3-5 week lead time on the 5D, but I may just bite so I can use a 35/300 coupon (current crop of codes expires in two days)--and then cancel if something better comes up (like the 20% Dell briefly offered on the 5D a few weeks back, hopefully combined with something like a 60 off 500 coupon).

Though it's nice to brag and have everyone know how kiasu you are, you could add this to your collection:

EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM (Available in April 2006)

EF-S won't work on the 5D, only the XT or 20D
Sucks for you, then.

I ordered the EF 24-105mm ISL with that 15% off coupon, and just got this from Dell yesterday, this's the second time with my Dell orders. they always play this kind of game on FW deals.

Dear Valued Customer,
We have reviewed your order. Although we had anticipated being able to ship your order sooner, we are experiencing an unexpected delay with your order 899881XXX and will not be able to ship this order and any associated orders until on or before 04-21-2006.

No breaking news here. Dell is a computer reseller, not a camera retailer. If you want good service and quick delivery, you order from B&H. That's why I would not order from Dell unless the savings is significant. In this case, some of the savings can be significant and I don't need the lenses right away.

I have placed 8 orders with Dell for camera stuff within the past 2 days. 7 of them have shipped, even though multiple said 3-5 week waits. Only thing i'm waiting for is the 1.4x to ship, we will see how long that takes.

alert mods

Yeah, this is normal when items are a hot deal. My 24-105L ship date was 04/17, and I received it this Monday, and the 1.4x is 04/24 and was shipped yesterday. So the moral of the story is majority of times, you will receive the item because their estimated date.

Thats great that your 1.4x shiped yesterday, mine is showing a ship date of 4/25. So maybe mine will go out in the next couple of days, it would be great to get it before easter.

thanks alot for your information, I'm hoping mine can be shipped out soon.

I've heard from somebody that some Canon lenses shipped from Dell.com are refurbished or re-manufactured products, so it's much cheaper. I don't believe that, but does anybody ever have quality problems with Lenses shipped from Dell?

First of all, it's not that much cheaper. It's just a little cheaper. In most cases, the lenses are more expensive than B&H even after the discount. Finally, those comments are probably made by someone who paid full price at their local camera store with tax.

I'd like to know what evidence they have of that. That's a common scare tactic used by retail stores that charge MSRP.
