Canon has quality control issues on some L lenses. Unfortunately, you're playing Russian roulette when buying these expensive glasses. For this reason I only purchase from replicable sellers with excellent exchange policies, including Dell. I've purchased a 135L from B&H and exchanged twice, a 35L and exchange once.

I've heard from somebody that some Canon lenses shipped from Dell.com are refurbished or re-manufactured products, so it's much cheaper. I don't believe that, but does anybody ever have quality problems with Lenses shipped from Dell?

I'm in for a 24-105! Thanks OP !!

I've been waiting to get one of these since they came out, but wanted to wait for the QC issue to be cleared up, which was in December. I forgot all about the lens until I saw your post. Thanks !!

Yea, I know the deal. You can't complain to often though. Just sent an email at the beginning of the week.

What brands of UV filters are good and where to get deals on them, such as 77mm UV for the L lenses?

alert mods

Well if you want quality UV filters they are $100 and get them from BHphotovideo. You should get the B+W multi coated filters. Other people also use Hoya pro's i believe. I have the B+W. Expensive but if you have a nice lens you dont want to through on a filter that makes it bad.

deleted-wrong thread!

Bokeh is no good and f4 is not enough.

IMHO, B+W is overrated and too pricey. I got my Hoya Pro 1 Super Multi-Coated Glass Filter from fleabay for $43, good for my Canon lenses.

sure. Canon and many other lens manufactures are dumb enough to produce only 2.8 or wider aperture lenses.

every lens has its own purpose. you just cant expect to get everything you dreamed in a single lens. btw, bokeh can be great at f4 if you know how to set up.

I just bought a couple of hundred dollars of Hoya filters from this company. They usually sell on eBay but also sells through this website. Much better prices than getting it in the U.S. They ship from Hong Kong and it takes about a week.

The 75-300 f4-5.6 uses a 58mm filter but personally, I would do without a filter for such a cheap lens. It'll cost you about $37 for a Hoya Super HMC Pro1 filter for this $180 lens. If you're talking about the 70-200 f/4, it's a 67mm filter and a Hoya Super HMC Pro1 filter will be about $42 shipped from .www.tradingoo.com.

24-105 is now $901, with new $60 coupon

In for a 24-105L. Pity about taxes that Dell now collect seemingly in all states.

Wondering how long until this ships. In no hurry since I already have the exceptional 28-70L which hopefully the 24-205L will discplace. If not I can sell either on eBay for little if any loss (24-105 maybe even may a few$ at this price (high end Canon lenses keep their value very well)

coupon's dead.

Isn't the 15% off coupon already dead? How you got it for $901?
