The math works out to slightly better than FAR after the PM to Fry's B&M and the rebates. What's important about this deal is that Circuit City has a 30-day LPG policy. I guarantee you that even if you can't get the PM this time because of the active CC rebates, the same drive will go on sale again within the next 30-days, and you'll be able to get the PM the next round. This drive was on sale for the same price at CC two weeks ago, and I should have bought it then, because I knew a PM or BVG opportunity would pop up again soon. I'm not going to miss it this time.
Welcome to the world of speculative deals, where you buy something now, expecting the possibility of a PM in the future. When someone writes a book about FW, don't forget to mention the fact that I named this idea first.
Oh, last and most important: don't open or touch the drive until you get the PM! Do not cut the UPC or do anything to the box! If you need to return it, you'll have a much easier time if the box is unopened and unaltered.
Onion Rings are too fatty dont like them.. so I will pass.. NoMoneyInMyWallet said: No Fry's in the tri-state (PA, NJ, DE) area. But we do had "onion" rings in NJ.

Good post OP.Note that "onion" rings was referring to our famous CompUSSR AOL GC compatriot.

You won't find it in today's paper. The sale at Fry's started Friday and lasts until Tuesday. You have to go back to Friday to find it.

How are the new rebates in CC? Does it state that rebate is invalidated if PM was done?
THanks.

This deal isn't at Fry's, it's at CC. The PM just happens to be at Fry's, but it could be to any retailer where the drive is sold.
Well, the drive is sold at CC, but there's no deal unless there is a PM. If the PM "happens" to be at Fry's, than Fry's should be in the title. I don't have Fry's and I wouldn't have looked at this post if it said Fry's in the title. I don't mean to give you crap, just to keep the posts easy to navigate through because there are so many of them.
In true FW spirit, bought it as soon as I saw the post. Only to discover that the ad is not there in today's LA Times. thanks for the April 1st treatment on April 2nd, OP

I saw this only online the other day. It's not in today's paper.

The date when the drive went on sale is very clearly listed in the web link, 03/31/06. The drive went on sale on Friday. Fry's has a different cycle of advertising than other stores, so you have to pay attention to those things.

Here's the last deal I did, in case you're wondering if I know what I'm talking about: Link.
Hey SickTeddyBear, I'm practically new to this site and therefore want to clear something up. If the PM is denied at this time at CC and we wait, you say that within a 30 day period it's bound to be for sale and then we could do the PM, right? But, to what store would we PM to so it turns out to be free AR? Thanks in advance for your reply.

We don't know what store. That's why it's called speculation. We know it will be on sale somewhere, because several stores carry the same drive, and they put them on sale all the time. Which one it will be will just depend. It may or may not be FAR if you don't get the PM this time, but the deal will still be ridiculously good. All of these PM deals at CC are. The point is to get ahead of another sale, by buying the drive now. Why? Because you have a better chance of getting a PM once the sale at CC is over. Read the other deal I listed to see how that went.
In any event, if the drive doesn't go on sale, just take it back on the 29th day and get a refund. CC has a 30-day return policy, so there is no risk.

Has anybody gotten a successful PM from CC on this ? I am wondering if they will accept the Fry's price which is $169 - 90 instant gift rebate = $79.99 CC can claim that the Fry's price is $169, not $79.99

Thanks SickTeddyBear, that makes sense. I already went ahead and bought the drive. Now if I may, one more quick ?: If I can get Friday's ad for Fry's, I simply try and PM when I pickup the drive at CC?

Go read the other thread, please. Some people prefer to PM when they pickup, I prefer to get the drive and come back and PM later. It just depends.
