Applied HSBC DR card last night and got approved online (was asked several ancient questions in 1986 before the final answer: approved).

Just called the 800 number GP listed above, the credit limit is $15K (have no idea about my FICO recently, but I have about $80K 0% balance from an BofA/MBNA account and a Chase account). Figure my FICO might be around 760 or so.

Note: I plan to use it just as a backup, when Chase decides to "enhance" their 5% card (Reward Plus/Cash Plus). The annual rebate payout may be a show-stopper for this HSBC DR card, who knows what will happen in a one-year period?

Approved today but was unable to get my credit line yet. The CSR told me that I should be able to get it in 48 hours.

I applied for the famous 2% Cash Back card and got $1,000 limit. Within a year, they bumped me up to $3,000 now. So while they start low, they do give you a credit limit increase every 6 months.

So exactly where/how did you apply for this? I've never found a link for it.

By invitation only. Read the discussion here.

Wish I was invited.

I called the 800 number above to apply over the phone and they gave me credit services @ 800-513-1777 to try.

Unfortunately, they don't take applications over the phone or via mail. It's online only.

Approved instantly - mid 700's FICO - will post credit limit when I find out.

BTW - no A-O-R's in my past . . . just a single application about a week ago is the most recent (also approved). I have SOME 0% money on existing cards but overall utilization is less than 50%.

I have a Citi Plantium Dividend Card. Yesterday I got a letter from CitiCards that starting Oct. 13th, there will no longer 5% back on gas or supermarkets, it will become 2%. This sucks.

also applied online, instant approval.

Please state your approved credit line, if you know it.

I got a regular offer in the mail for a HSBC Cash Back Card. Applied and only got a $ 750 credit line. FICO score is 650 per Experian, applied for a mortgage and some credit cards lately, took a hit on my credit score.

Applied for Mortgage $ 22,500

applied for Citi Premier Pass AMEX $ 3,300

applied for Citi Platinum - Declined

Please state your approved credit line, if you know it. don't yet know.

Found out today that the credit line is $4K. Smallest CL of any card I own.

Applied and result: "Sorry you are unfortunate". HSBC will refer other card for you.
730 FICO, 55k\\year income, no late\\missed payments on record.

So are we now sure that directrewardscard.com is NOT a phishing-type scam? Seems like it has a pretty big Google Adwords advertising budget to be a scam.

Does the card really look as cheesy as it does in the pictures on the website?

What was your average CL prior to getting this card?

alert mods

Previously: a MBNA reported mid-cycle with 99% CL usage (most of it due to BillPay). At some point, after statement closed, Experian (which HSBC previously pulled for me) came back to $0 (the other two reports did not) on that card so I jumped on it (way too soon...).

Insta-denied, I was referred to the Orchard card selector. Otherwise FICO scores a little bit short of 700's, mainly because of short history ( about 15 months). I already have a no-fee, 0% (12 mos) Orchard card following a mailed preapproved offer.

A day after I found out they in fact pulled EQF. Easier to get rid of, but I now have to wait until their system will allow me to apply again.

By the way, does anyone know their restrictions to multiple (or sequential) applications?

Edit: to answer this question, I started a dedicated thread: this one

When I got to the page where it asked me to fill in info to be considered for other cards, I just closed it. Maybe that's why they followed up and offered me the card? Might be a better idea to NOT fill out that form if given the chance.

Has anyone tried converting the GM Card to this? My credit limit on that is a paltry $1000. (Although I deposited a $500 convenience check that was deposited to my savings but never showed up on my CC statement, as far as I can tell - that's a pretty nice reward if it continues.)

Something seems amiss.

If you call HSBC, no one knows anything of this card. There is no mention of it on the HSBC website. Card member services is 888-385-8916. I've spent an hour trying to get a human being to answer questions about the rewards, but again no one seems to know anything about it.

If you read the terms from directrewardscard.com, the way it reads is that you cannot request a rewards check. It is a check that is mailed out on the annual account anniversary date.

Of course, this assumes the card is not a phising scam. I am not comfortable that HSBC has no link to this on their site and that no customer service rep can explain, let alone find, any details about how it works.
