Applied and got instant approval, ~730 FICO, 50k income, own home.

I have about ~770 Fico from myFico, 89K/year, own home. Rejected.... But I do have a HSBC Cash Back card, and recently went thru a mini-AOR.

Maybe you should have tried converting it, has anyone done that?

Those approved, do you own your home?

I own a $750k+ home with no mortgage and listed over $200k of yearly income and was denied. Have never done an appa-o-ramma, Show zero utilization on my 3 cards by paying before they report and real FICO above 800. I can't believe I could be denied. I plan on calling this morning and still believe it has something to do with me timing out and trying the application a second time. I know they can't tell that I have never paid any interest but that's the only reason I can up with for them not giving me this card

I have gotten it straightened out, I had to call the application department (1-800-513-1777) Is what I thought, My first application did go thru before I lost my connection so got denied when I tried again. Also found out my CL is $25,000. So much for them giving crappy lines

Good idea. I'm not very impressed by this card, but its better than a straight 1% back card (since I have the 2% Fidelity 529 card).

The Credit Card Issuer faq has no information for HSBC on converting, consoldating, etc. so can't tell if it is allowed. Card is in sock draw, I'll report back tonight.

I applied last week online. I got a letter yesterday telling me that I was approved, and that I would receive another letter with my credit line within a few days. I have no idea what my FICO score is, but I own my own home and have perfect credit history.

Sorry for the newbie question, but what is AOR?

People keep talking about the crappy lines...but this is an HSBC branded card. The actual crappy lines that I hear about consistently are Orchard, Household, Cap1, etc.

Sure it is possible to get a $500 line with an HSBC branded card but based on what I've heard the only people screaming about crappy lines are ones who don't actually have an HSBC card.

It is a name for people who would rather ask an off-topic question rather than type 3 letters into the site search bar and find the AOR FAQ thread as the first hit.

This part is almost settled. What about those rejected: you don't own homes?

I called. The reason for turning me down was: too many cards open (I just have 12 credit lines in total). Not sure if this really matters or is just a pretext. Oh well.
It would be interesting to also state here the reasons they invoked

I think that would be the best resource (reasons people are given as to why they are turned down). The approvals don't seem to have too much rhyme or reason yet, but the rejection reasons can illuminate what the real difference.

Re: your other post, matt96gt said in a few posts above yours that he was approved inst. and owns his home.

Right. That's why I asked, it seems homeowners are almost surely approved, and usually the lenders LOVE to see you are a homeowner. The question is: what about the others?

Oops, sorry, I meant to point out the post from uglyrabbit (right below the one I mentioned): that one stated a 770 FICO and "own home" and was rejected. So it doesn't seem that owning a home makes the difference.

I just applied and got approved. on the 2nd page of the app, it asked some smart questions. it reminded me that I had a mortgage loan with them 3 years ago and knows my prev street address. I am a homeowner. I don't know my FICO though.

Those of you who were denied, could it be that there's an old address in one of your credit files that doesn't match what you provided in the application? Any other piece of information you provided that may look different on your report? I know someone who was recently denied an account with a financial institution due to a non-matching old address.

If you get denied, don't they have to send you a letter giving the reason why you were denied and the name of the credit bureau where they pulled your report? Because you'd be entitled to a free copy of your report AFAIK.

I just applied as was aproved. 60K income, rent, fico 778 (as per myfico.com)

Denied. Mid 70s, own, fico in mid to low 700s. Yet they offered me the platinum card. I never understood HSBC/household.
