Hmm... Windows Vista minimum memory requirement is supposed to be 1GB... wonder if it'll crawl with 512MB or if they pulled the 1GB requirement out of their ... thin air...

Already emailed. It pays to live in the Bay Area.

Sweet! I'm in. I just emailed. Hopefully they are still slots open.

I remember going to something like this up in Seattle when Win98 came out and they actually gave me a MS Sidewinder joystick (the really expensive one) on my way out, which was pretty spectacular from the perspective a middle school kid. I hope the "gift" they mention is something of that caliber.

It sure would be nice to get a copy of Windows Vista, heck I'ld settle for XP Pro right now as Im on XP Home.

If this were in San Diego I'ld totally be there lets hope Microsoft can bring these events to some other locations too!

Can I take my laptop ? I meet all the criteria except for the video card. Mine only has 32mb of video ram

I registered for the Vista Install Fair thru the codecamp web site. And got a confirmation screen.
However there is no confirmation email yet, keeping fingers crossed...

Good deal. Too bad I live some 3,000 miles away.

Bummer

Its nice for these guys/gals to do this install on a weekend!

is this a first come first server or are spots reserved once registered? The e-mail address for the inquiry doesn't seem to work.

Considering the crazy price of Vista Ultimate, if you are planning on buying it, it might be cheaper to pay for the plane ticket and fly out for this event. Plus you get a trip out of it.

MS just announced the prices and Ultimate is going to be $400 ($260 for upgrade). Home Basic will be $200 ($100 upgrade)

That's kind of old news... I mean Amazon's had it for preorder at those prices for a while now...

Thx OP. Green! Emailed!

How did u sign up at Foothill college? Did I register correctly because I never got an option to pick which location.

I went to this url http://www.siliconvalley-codecamp.com/VistaInstallFair.aspx

and clicked attendee registration and filled out that form.

That form doesn't work for me. It just keeps saying "try again" at the bottom where it says to enter a bunch of characters to the right.

Really? My family who lives in the Bay never heard about it..

Yeah I can't do it either.

Click the 'Show me another set of characters' button which is right above the submit button and it will show an image next to the 'Try Again' text

Type in that text in the image. You may need to re-type the password as clicking that button will erase the password

Use IE, firefox wont work !!

MS rep: "Sorry your Windows XP Pro is a pirated copy." *radios security*

Not to imply I'm not using a legit copy.

There's nothing in that image for me. I've tried hitting that show another set button a bunch of times and there still is no image. I am using IE.

Thanks OP! I registered through another person's link... at foothill. I'll try to make that 400+ mile drive. Good excuse for a fun drive... No confirmation yet though. Just a webpage that says "Confirmation Screen". We'll see....

Just a webpage that says "Confirmation Screen". We'll see.... Wouldn't it be faster and easier if you just downloaded it? (There are links in the computer forum, but PM me if you can't find them)

Edit: Whoops...looks like at least one of the fairs is offering a free copy of Vista after release. Can't get that via the CPP! So this is a better deal than downloading.

I'm in, I just signed up. But how do we know if we're the first 100 people or so?

I use firefox. Fill in all the info before you hit that button. Just tried it. It works.
The image won't show up on the initial page load. I had to press that button to get that image.

Skipping 163 Messages...

Finally got mine today. I had to call DHL to ask why it's just been sitting in Santa Clara for days. The response I got was "I don't know.". But I called last night and it showed up today. A little banged up, but that's OK.
