I've purchased the 22" Viewsonic monitor and had to return it after I found a ton of stuck green pixels. It also had quite a bit of light bleeding from the top and bottom edges when the screen is supposed to be all black. Does anyone know if this Sceptre LCD is manufactured by the same panel maker?

This is VERY HOT! If I haven't bought Westinghouse 22", I would jump on this deal.

The panel specs look good. However, the plastic enclosure and the stand for the Sceptre appears to be very low quality. If you are planning to use it with an LCD arm, it may be OK as it does have a VESA mount in the back and it is easy to remove the base.

I think that this is better: Samsung 204BW It is not 22 but it has the same resoution
It's Costco, so if you get one that was manufactured poorly (even just one dead pixel), you should be able to return/exchange it. IMO this is pretty hot, but so close to BF (black friday), that you might want to wait..
Sceptre had that really awful 20" wide LCD for cheap at CostCo. Anyone used one of these?
I have one of these (SCEPTRE X20G-Naga III) and after I sent it in for a firmware update it's been awesome. No problems, no dead pixels, 1680x1050, 8ms, 800:1contrast ratio, D-Sub & DVI...
A month or so after I got mine (Feb 2006, I think) these monitors had their firmware updated out of the box.
The specs were one of the best (on paper, that is) when I bought it, the price was reasonable, and with Costco's peace of mind, I still feel it's a good deal.
Played Fear, Half-Life 2, WOW, Serious Sam 2 among other games and movies and they all look great. Check out the reviews on Newegg for this monitor - seems like people like it.
Wish I had this 22" monitor though...

Who makes Sceptre LCDs? I mean do they make their own or another company makes these lcd for them and they badge it as one of their own.

Sceptre X20G Naga III 8ms G2G 20"WS AU Optronics P-MVA (M201EW01 V0)
ViewSonic VX2235WM 5ms G2G 22"WS Chi Mei Optoelectronics TN Film (M220Z1-L01)
IMO an MVA LCD is better than TN film. THe picture quality is better with MVA vs. TN film while responce is fast enough to game and watch video. My guess is the 22" Sceptre is TN film using a trick to get the color count up to 16.7M.
See the link if you want to learn more. But with Costco you can always buy and try. I'm had both the 20" Sceptre and 22" Viewsonic side by side on my computer. I found the Sceptre to be a better monitor. FYI - the viewsonic has a built in process. Somtimes pixel seem stuck when the computer changes the signal. All you have to do is turn the Viewsonic on and off to get the LCD to work right. It became a bit annoying for me to do that.
I was all set to buy the Viewsonic since I've been using them for years and they've been excellent monitors. But I really didnt like the way the bezel and stand look on the Viewsonic. It's just a personal opinion, but I wasnt fond of the shiny, wavy plastic on the bezel or the grey skunk-like section that split the middle of the stand.
So you may want to see it in person if they carry them in the B&M Costco near you if superficial looks are important to you.
I'll probably just go with a smaller Viewsonic from Costco instead.

Wow, an HDMI input. Is that the 1st time it's been sported on a LCD monitor (that's not a 30"+ screen)? The DVI input's also HDCP compliant right? I thought I read that some where, but wasn't sure. The USB ports are great, I love that feature on my ultrasharp monitor. I might have to buy this monitor to go with my new Dell pc that just shipped.
Does anyone know if any B&M's will be carrying this, or just online only? Also, buying it online has the same return policies to B&M right?

Can i use the sceptre as 22" lcd tv? I read in the specs somewhere it has 1280x720p 60gtz supported resolution, so it looks like it so. That's what really interests me about this LCD.

Coupon states there is a shipping and handling charge.
Yes, you can use this as a TV if you have a tuner/receiver that has HDMI output because this particular monitor does not have any tuner or RCA or component ports.
The Sceptre site does show a 24" monitor with all that... with 1920 x 1200. http://www.sceptre.com/Products/LCD/Specifications/spec_x24wg_Naga.htm

I wonder how much the 24" would cost. $299AR + shipping is pretty appealing. I'm assuming you could also hook up a cable box (if it had it available) via the DVI input as well.
There are graphics cards now starting to ship with HDMI (that are HDCP compliant) inputs. I always assumed they were more for hooking it up to a HDTV, I wonder how the difference would be on HDMI vs. DVI for a LCD computer monitor.
Yes, online has same return policy as B&M. You even get 100% of shipping charges refunded if you return it to the store.

I've been in the market for a good 20" plus, widescreen LCD, gonna keep an eye on this one. Seems like the LCD market is really starting to hit a sweet spot, price wise. I'd love to see that 24inch model come in at around $550-$600.
for about the same price you get 1 more inch and better contrast ratio, also you get HDMI connection in a LCD monitor so those are a definite plus. To bad I already bought the 215tw from OD a week ago.

I bought the 20 Inch LCD from Costco about 9 months ago, and it is sweet. Got it for $379 or so, and then saw it at Newegg for like $329 months later.
No dead pixels, and awesome for gaming.
If this thing was a 24" for more maybe like $400, Id buy a Sceptre again in a heartbeat.

Stopped in at Costco yesterday. They are holding the Sceptre and Viewsonic monitors off the shelves until Oct. 13th to avoid people buying them now and bringing the coupons in later. At least that's what the manager told me. I did receive a coupon book this weekend and it has a coupon for $50 off the Sceptre 22" LCD anyone know if that includes the rebate? If not, that's $80 off of $350 for a net price of $270.

According to the site, it's $20 coupon + $30 MIR = $50 off.
On the Costco mailer, it doesn't have a coupon. It just says $50, which is the $20 coupon + the $30 MIR.
So no, there's no $50 additional discount.

I'm in total shock. I sent an email to Sceptre to find out what type of panel they were using and the bit-depth (all of the 22" monitors so far use only 6-bit TN panels). I also asked about the scaling options for various inputs (component, HDMI, 1:1, etc...). This was their response... no kidding.
Dear Customer,
We're sorry we cannot provide that information.
Best Regards, Sceptre Customer Support Were they planning on having CUSTOMERS for their products? I mean, if you are trying to hide the fact that you are using TN panels and probably lying about the fact it provides 16.7 million colors is one thing... but at least give me the scaling info which should be in the friggin' manual (which is not posted online). Ridiculous!

Well, if it is a TN panel, then you know that the only way they're going to achieve 16.7 million colors is through dithering, like Samsung does (see link below). I'm not really that surprised. You can't get an 8-bit 22" panel for $299.

Gustavus said: I hooked up my old CRT to the computer again and all the colors looked correct. If I hook this box up with DVI, everything looks fine. It's a custom built system that's used as a backup when the main one is busy encoding or whatever. Athlon XP 2400+, 512MB DDR, Radeon 9600. I just checked to make sure the drivers are up to date.Do you think the Sceptre's VGA port might be bad? I know from all the Sceptre BLOGs I've read over the last three months, the vast majority of people with problems either have an ATI card, a MAC, or both. In this case it might be your input. So am I to understand you have a second system hooked up to your Sceptre via DVI? If you could test it using a DVI-VGA adapter, might the tint still there?
