Looks like the C310 has a USB 1.1 port. Is the C310x 2.0 or still 1.1? |

Funny, as I don't see anything on the ad scan that says that- care to show me where it is? The only page I see anything about "limited availablity" items is the first page. Also- this isn't a PM; its a price adjustment to their own lower price, which is what makes it so easy. You're not trying to PM some other stores BF price, it's their own.
It's a walk in the park.

I read this forum and was thinking the whole time that qNd was totally right and that this policy is infallable. However, I just went to my store to buy this Mio GPS device, and asked the customer service about price matching for prices advertised on BF. They told me that there will be no PM for ads on this day. Frustrated, I called the CC phone number and asked them about this PMing from BF ads. They WILL NOT PM anything from the ads from BF. This is what Gary told me, anyways. |

Well, even though you could, you need a some sort of USB-GPS unit attached to your GPS (i.e. MS Mappoint). |

I don't know where you got that information about IGo software on c310x. I went to the spec page and it said TeleAtlas.

Indeed the c310x does use TeleAtlas Maps, but uses iGo software instead of the Destinator on the c310. Here is a link to a review of the c310 and some info on the c310x. If you scroll down, they talk about the differences between the two.

It can read the words in the database and speak them.
Instead of saying, turn left in 100 yards, it'll say turn left at Smith street, if it's got TTS. |

I have not been able to find the processor speed for the C310x. Is it 300Mhz like the Teletype or 400 like the the Typhoon 3240? As for text to speech, is that feature implemented in any of the iGo products? |

I believe there are other iGo products with text-to-speech, yes. |

If the c310x has the same internals as the C310 then it has an Intel® Xscale processor 300 MHz
How does that compare to the Samsung 400Mhz chip in the Typhoon 3240? |

Did you ask them specifically about their own price drops, or ask them about price matching in general? If they thought you were talking about matching other stores' prices, I can understand that answer- |

From what I've read, the c310 has Samsung S3C2440 processor running at 400 MHz. c310x believed to have the exact same hardware. Apparently, this CPU comes in three versions - 300 MHz (TT uses this), 400 MHz and 533 MHz (haven't seen any devices with 533). |

Ok, let's clarify things in this thread:
1. Staples and CC will both offer the 310x unit (not 310) so either place nets you the upgraded unit. 2. CompUSA has it for $180, it is also the 310x, but they have stated they WILL pricematch Staples or CC for $149 if you have one local. I would call and check on Wednesday with that specific store and speak to/get the manager's name to be sure if you plan on doing this. All 3 places use mail-in rebates for those prices. 3. The unit does not do text to speech. The cheapest unit on the market with that feature as well as traffic recieving is the Garmin unit that will be at Circuit City for $350, a significant discount over normal. If those two features are the most important to you (realize the traffic reception costs a $60 per year charge (you don't have to subscribe or use the GPS, just to have that feature) and only really useful if you live in large cities / travel to large cities), then it's an outstanding BF day on that GPS. 4. To me, the major software criticisms of the 310 look to be solved in the 310x, although the map data is being updated and as stands now is not quite as good (some roads not known) as the Garmin.
In my mind, the $200 difference and shirt pocket portability of the flat design Mio makes this a no-brainer. |
