anyone know which unit it better?

1. Pharos from D3ll for $129
2. Mio C310x from CUSA for $200
3. InVion from Tweeter for $179

I've ordered all 3, but haven't picked up any of them. Which would you keep between the 3?

I'm in similar boat. I had something to do with all three.

1. Pharos - I ordered it from Dell before looking at the BF deals (I had midterms this week and had no time to look at BF deals until the day before BF). After reading about the Pharos (bad) and hearing about the Mio (good), I cancelled my order at Dell. I do not regret it.

2. Mio - Bought it from Staples for $150. I like the software a lot, but the maps are not that great (made by TeleAtlas). They tell me weird directions sometimes, and are pretty old maps I hear. I did the hack that has been discussed, and it's a little more worth my money now. Anybody know what other PPC GPS software packages use Navteq maps instead of TeleAtlas?

3. I just got back from Tweeter to order the InVion. It looks good on paper, uses Navteq maps (better maps, Garmin uses them, and so do all automobiles that have them as an option from the factory, or so I've read). There is a thread on the Tweeter deal here, but there has been only one user review.

I've used a Garmin i2 for the last year, and it has been great. The navigation is EXCELLENT. However, I hoped to upgrade the unit with color and touch-screen. I hope I can either: 1. find ppc gps software that uses Navteq, or 2. read more reviews of people who like the InVion.

Someone should start a Mio thread. I think I will.

I picked up two of these MIO C310x units and each has a different product number on the bottom of the box. Anyone know how to tell what the difference is? Does one possibly have the free 1gb card?

P/N: 52621489890022

P/N: 52621489890106

If anyone can let me know what they have I'd appreciate it as I am keeping one for myself.

Thanks
Rob

Great GPS already found one mistake, it got WalMart confused with Target. I was looking for a local WalMart in this new area it took me to my destination but I ended up at a Target. I went in just for kicks and asked if there was a WalMart here and they said for the past 6 years it has been a Target not sure if it was a WalMart prior to that. This was already preprogramed in the POI.

Not sure how I can update it

How do I reload the maps?
I got to the part where I've installed the new software. I can see the explorer, but how the heck do I reload the maps???

Thanks

No wonder MIO is so hot.. because you can hack it..
I didnt get because I dont need one. After I saw the quick summry, Im little regrate because its a windows CE. I have lots of software that runs on CE. If the GPS system works as wifi, you may also install slingbox player to watch TV channels.

Why the heck you need to reload the maps? The maps are stored in the Internal Flash memory. The hack procedure won't erase the Flash memory. You just need to run the miomap shortcut on your WinCE desktop.

But in case, if you want to reload the maps, you can install Active sync 4.2 on your desktop PC and connect your hacked MIO, then click explore on your Activesync window. You will be able to see the files on your MIO and transfer maps from yous installation cd.

I travel California Interstate 5 fairly frequently. Does anybody know whether the Mio shows the exits of interstate highways? For example, if my car broke down on an interstate highway, could I use the Mio to find the nearest exit so I could tell the tow truck operator where to find me? What about the nearest gas station, if I run low on fuel on an interstate highway?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure about the exit numbers showing up. I have to take a look again when driving. Also i'm in NY but a Highway, Parkway, Expressway same thing.

If you need to find a gas station you use the Points of Interest (POI). You lock in your location and search for Gas Station and it will give you a list and show you on the map. The POI has lots of locations, but might be somewhat outdated and it does includes lots of places no longer around.

The rebate form (print) says valid dates are 11/23 - 11/24 , but the fill-in (online submission) says 11/24-11/24 (no 11/23). What the **** ?

I, like a lot others here bought it on 11/23 . Did anyone else notice this? I'm thinking of submitting the printed rebate, but is CC going to cheat us out of $50 ?

I'm wondering the same thing. I imagine when they get the paper form they just put it in the computer anyway, but I wonder why they dont' update the purchase dates on the online forms??
