So can you still charge it without the charging station?
You plug it in manually if you don't have the homebase.
A good source of information is the Roomba and Scooba message boards if you have any other questions about how they work: Roomba and Scooba Message Boards

I'm really more interested in the Roomba than the Scooba but this seems like such a good deal. Can anyone with a little experience with these tell me if this Roomba is any good? I've heard some Roombas are MUCH better than others. Thanks |

Everything is on sale with that coupon code. You dont have to get a scooba. And all Roombas from the Discovery and up are supposed to be the good ones. Im sure the others are good as well, they just lack the neat features like the self charging base station. |

I know that the self charging station is a huge deal. It drives back and charges itself when the battery is low. Really neat. IMO, the only real decision is between the Discovery or the Scheduler. Same unit, one has a scheduler built in though. With a huge savings like this, its worth it to pay a bit more and get the one you actually want. |

Thanks. I also have a dog and most of my house is hardwood with rugs. Which one would suit me the best?
Also, I am a bit worried about the durability - are these lasting devices? Or would it better to get one from Costco with their awesome warranty? |

I saw the Scooba demonstrated on the Home Shopping Network. They had a dirty floor smeared with a 1 foot wide streak of dirt. The Scooba just managed to smear the dirt across the ENTIRE floor rather than clean the small dirt path. They actually cut away from the demo once they realized it wasn't working as planned. |

It's just the way the Scooba works. It doesn't really do anything but break up stains on the first couple of passes, but if you let it complete it's entire cleaning cycle, it is quite impressive in how well it removes dirt.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't you Roomba the dirt off first anyways? Then Scooba it? |

Yes, that's correct, but if you have stains on the floor, the Scooba takes several passes before it completely breaks up the stains and cleans it away entirely.

From their demo video of scooba, it looked like you don't need the roomba on non-carpet floors. It should take care of dirt and cleanup. |

I suppose, but I was thinking the Roomba was like a 'broom' and a Scooba is like a mop. So use the 'broom' to pick up dirt and big pieces then the 'mop' to actually clean the floor. I plan on putting tile in my house soon, so these two guys would go great together. Glad I saw this deal, just spent an hour or two driving around today trying to find the 5900 at Target and Sams Club (they both discontinued them for like $150). This is a much better deal since you get a free Roomba. |
