Okay the linked seems to take care of the upper/lower case problem, but you still need to add a Vin on the end of it..so it still doesn't work "optimally".

Here is what I copied/saved from the last post:
http://fostermotors.earthcars.net/cgi-bin/AutoCheck.cgi?dealerid=koonscollegeparkford&vin=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Replace the X's with your VIN
NOTE: As discussed last time, you need to make sure that the FW automatically changed "AutoCheck" gets reverted back to lowercase "a" and "c"

my car showed accident records which carfax did not find! What a waste that I had paid money to carfax!
Carfax seems to be charging money for nothing! What a waste!

Thanks Op it worked. Everything showed the same as Carfax when I ran a check prior to buying initially.
Worked for one of my cars but not the other. For the one it worked for it wasn't accurate. My car was in a crash and got fixed but the report came back clean.

If you checked carfax, did it have the incident? I found carfax didn't have a couple of accidents I had on my car, but they were body work crashes but nothing near totaled.
these reports probably don't pick up regular crashes, unless they're linked into the insurance databases??

HTH, -D ya, I was the one that posted it last week, the mods send me a messages saying that they removed it, I never really understood why? oh well
It worked using the method from the 7th post listed.
Sweeet, my '94 Mark VIII really does have 70,000 and never any damage! This is great for later resale.
Thanks OP!

When you type in the VIN, use all lowecase letters. I tried with caps and it did not work. Tried again with lower case and it worked just fine.
Insurance companies _can_ report automobile claims to a company called ISO. This is where Carfax, etc pulls in most of their information (if not all) about repairable vehicles. Many carriers are now automated so all claims are reported but there are still thousands of carriers that don't use ISO or just don't report repairable vehicles.
Checked on one of my previous vehicles which has been in 4 accidents to my knowledge, 3 previous to me and 1 I was involved in. Carfax shows a major accident and an engine replacement, whereas AutoCheck shows no accidents or engine replacements.

It shows my car was a previous rental car..which is not true considering I bought it with 2 miles on it from the dealer. wierd.
About AutoCheck AutoCheck Vehicle History Reports by Experian Automotive is the leading vehicle history reporting intelligence provider. With expert data handling, the Experian Automotive database houses over 3 billion records for nearly 500 million vehicles. Every AutoCheck vehicle history report will give you confidence when buying or selling your next used vehicle, with superior customer service every step of the way.
I wish Experian was this accurate with reporting my credit inquiries. They are 0 for 3 with the accident history on three vehicles I checked. One of the vehicles I checked has at least 4 accidents (all minor, but reported to the state never the less).
This is obviously a sham service sold to dealers to help them push vehicles. There is no substitute for a real vehicle inspection. There are tell tale signs that almost anyone can spot to determine if there was major work performed on a vehicle.
They are correct 3 for 3 here. My wife's Mustang did show up as in an accident last year. She pulled out in front of another vehicle, and the other vehicle went into a ditch to avoid collision. No contact or damage to the Mustang, yet it correctly shows as involved in accident. She was ticketed, so perhaps that is why it showed up? Also other party submitted an insurance claim ($2k+) against her for damage to their vehicle. Maybe that's what is needed for accident to appear?

It wouldn't have been much of a rental car if it only got driven two miles. An odometer rollback would have showed up on the report. Those are easy to catch.
Besides, there's no way anyone could mistake a rental car for a new car. Rentals look like crap after 3000 miles.

A very tough, and potentially costly, situation. You need to look into this and attempt correction of the error if at all possible. Now if you plan to keep your car for the next twenty years you will be fine. Only two times when this kind of "labeling" could impact you:
1. At time of purchase. Rental cars entitle buyer to big discount.
2. At time of sale. But at this time discount HURTS you.
I own a rental car (Hertz), BTW, bought eyes open with circa 12K on the clock. It was and remains like a new car, and I love it. I also love the discount I was given at time of purchase - around US$5K.
But I would feel differently about my car had I paid a higher price only to learn LATER I had bought a rental. These reports (Carfax, AutoCheck) seldom lie. Be thoughtful and careful going forward.
