Even thought this router doesn't come with a power transmission, it is a good one to have. I got mine for free after rebate + coupon last Summer and it has been solidly running without any problem even with a stock firmware. I did a WDS test using my LaFonera router with DD-WRT to connect to this router without any problem. For $25 ARs, I think this is not a bad one.
slickr4 - you've got a lot of nerve to rate threads negative, especially when you've posted exactly one "hot deal" yourself in the four years you've been a member at FW and when the next best deal posted recently for this item was $40.

However, maybe OP can add "flashable WiFi router" to the title.
Both rebates now up (Price on CC site is $25 AR) Now, could you PM best buy with this price?...I know rebates are involved which makes things more complicated, but I have gift cards that I would like to use?
I have my main router in my basement. I want to setup a lan in another room without pre-wired lan.
I heard some of the router can be used as a a bridge. I guess I can have PCs in that room connected to lan ports on this device. Am I right? if that's the case, are those PCs behind the firewall, just a bit concerned about accessibility from other PCs to the PCs behind this router.

just when i was getting ready to buy this online; it's OOS!!
edit: i was still able to add it and place an order; estimated ship date 4/17, arrival 4/30. maybe it's CC's practice of removing sale items from its website (or making them appear OOS), thus forcing ppl to go to BM. hopefully it goes through.

Greek or Geek?
WDS -Wireless Distribution System
Tomato - third-party firmware that can add additional features including bridging, WDS, QOS (Quality of Service), etc.
Hyperwrt - another third party firmware, similar to other in adding features but only works on Linksys flashable routers
Yes, this router can be used as a bridge or as a part of a WDS, I have my home server plugged directly into this in a closet in the basement. My internet connection is plugged into the Linksys in my office on the second floor. The server is available anywhere in the house that has a wired or wireless connection. Since it is also a wireless point I now have excellent wireless coverage in the whole house.
DDWRT has more features while Tomato is more user friendly. DDwrt can be overwhelming if you haven't used it or are unfamiliar with networking terms.

I have this 3 router as a bridge for my 3 Directivo's and Slingbox. It has been working great and solved many issues I had with another brand of bridge that I bought that would always reset or lose settings.
Anyways my only gripe with DD-WRT is that when you log in to the DD-WRT menu home page. It displays too much information. I have security on my network but I still don't like all the information on the menus home page. Anyone know how to make it show less information, ask for your password then show all that information?
Is this better than a low-end MIMO router? I've been having trouble with my CompUSA router that requires me to reset the stupid contraption at least once a day. I use 4 computers over WiFi just wondering if this would work out better. Thanks!
I just bought 2 of these last month and flashed DD-WRT on the 1st try to make a wireless brigde. I have know problem recommend them for anyone wanting a 802.11G network.

If you look under Administration->Management, there is a checkbox for "Info Site Password Protection" (using v23 SP2). If you make sure that box is enabled, the router will request a password before even displaying the router's home page.

Thanks for the tip! I been looking everywhere for that!
Oh, this deal is for a whole city! I thought I was just getting a smelly 2000 lb plains-dwelling animal that I could use for a BBQ. I didn't realize I was getting so much more, this is really hot now!
I picked this up a while ago with expiration of 4/30/07
It's a save big coupon or something, I placed the router for $49.99, couldn't find a $1 filler, was thinking of justgoing to store to purchase and buying a coke. But then found a $2 filler in a battery, used FatCash, and discover card as well.
Am going to probably exchange the battery for a coke when i go to pick up the order.
