$150 Office Depot Rebate

Best Buy has same laptop for $530 OTD. It is in the circular, page 16

Link to Circular page

PM BB's OTD price at OD and your final cost is $680 - $150 PM - $150 MIR = $380.

As always, PMs are highly YMMV and you are likely to get shut down - OD manager might notice rebate, might invent a reason why PM is rejected, might call BB and check stock, might not have gotten any last night and so is in a bad mood.

If you buy this, you can also get the Canon PIXMA MP160 Photo All-in-One for -$9 after 3 rebates.

Printer price $80.99

$50 Bundle rebate
$20 OD Rebate
$20 Canon Rebate

Looks like a good deal if the PM works, I'm going to give it a shot.

Thanks OP

Don't know if this would work - OD $20 rebate expires before sale, so unless there is a new one, that would be $11 AIO.

OD is advertising FAR Canon iP1800 for $50 - $20 - $30. Both iP1800 rebates are showing on the laptop rebate page.

oops, you're right, the $20 rebate does expire today. Hopefully they post up another one. Still a good deal with the iP1800.

Don't forget to throw in all the freebies that OD usually gives out with orders that meet the minimum purchase requirements.

What is T2080, anywhere better than T2060?

Faster speed, that's all.
I think you could say that Dual-core is the "Celeron" version of Core-Duo
The only thing that I see different is the cache size.

And it's based on the older Pentium M core, not the Core or Core2 cores so clock for clock it's about 20% slower.

t2080 is a core duo w/ half the cache. it's not based on any other architecture.

is it possible for OD to reject your rebate because you PMed?
i've heard of CC starting to do this... just wondering

Not yet.

I've done 2 of these laptop PM and rebate deals and neither of the rebates was rejected.

I've done a desktop deal back in January of this year and have received the rebates.

might give it a try tomorrow. Thanks OP

so does it decrease the laptop's performance? Thanks

sweet deal if pm flies. even sweeter if $ off coupons can be applied.

btw, is the bolded text a slip of the tongue?

Rebate Depot How true!

guys what would be the best strategy to get this deal, Can we buy this today online and pick up in store tomorrow and price match?. Or possible only in the B&M ?. Any creative ideas will be helpful.

Weights 6lb. Kinda heavy.

The rebate doesn't start until tomorrow anyway, so buying today won't work.

Pretty standard (maybe even a tad light for a 15.4, by a couple ounces). The number of battery cells is sometimes an overlooked weight factor. My wife's low-end Toshiba is 4-cell; less than 6 lbs, but whimpy 1.25 hr duration is a total pain.

no, im talking about my manager at work

Thanks for the heads up OP. Not gonna bother with the PM. If it works great, but chances are I'm just asking for a headache.

But for $530, no rebate, I am just gonna pick some up at a BB.

Might as well try. The worst that can happen is the OD manager says no. If they don't, then you walk away with an awesome deal.

Wrong,Wrong,Wrong. The t2060 and t2080 share nothing with the core duo cpu's other than they are both made by Intel. They're targeted at people who think "Hey,the t2050 is Core Duo so the t2060 must be Core Duo" It's old technology that is cheaper to produce than the real thing. If you buy a laptop with a t2060,the sticker on it will say"Dual-Core" not "Core Duo" Don't be fooled by the number intel gave it.

Maybe, but I am buying 3 for people who have asked me to look for a deal. So I need something that requires minimal effort. Getting 3 PM after rebate, and having it on 3 names, 3 addresses, so that they don't get declined...

If it was one, I'd try it. But for 3 other people, nah...

WOW - Did you know you can order online and pick up form the store designating CASH as the payment type? I just placed an order for 7 of these at my local (cancelled the order right after though) store and the order date was the 22nd........ making me think that the rebate would be good though I would have to still do the PM.

you might have trouble getting 3 of those lappys from BB, but maybe not

If they are looking to cheap out, Acer AS3680-2633 is $450 at BB (also $150 off the current price). Celeron M instead of 2080, CD-RW/DVD instead of DVD-RW, and smaller screen. But, it is thinner, lighter and $80 cheaper.

I think for most people who look at the bottom end, CPU doesn't matter as much, with Celeron M being a very decent, even if outdated, laptop CPU. DVD burner... Sure, it's nice to have. But really necessary? Not for a lot of people. Smaller screen is likely to be the only drawback.

BTW, either laptop will need more memory. Vista is not happy in "only" 512MB, and IMO, more memory will give heck of a lot more bang for the buck than faster CPU.

they will ringup at the register tomorrow and give you the store receipt right? so when they ringup tomorrow at the register the date will be 22nd right?

That would only make sense. You will place the order today (and my order for cash had tomorrow's date) and pick up and pay tomorrow and the date WILL be TOMORROW'S date.

You just have to haggle with the PM !

Just put order today, and return/repurchase tomorrow.

Buy 2 1Gb sticks of memory for running Vista. I've got a Toshiba laptop I got a couple weeks ago on one of these PM to BB, rebate from OD deals. Came with 512Mb, installed 2Gb. After booting, with no programs other than what's in the system tray, it uses around 667Mb of memory. That's not including the 128Mb reserved for the shared video. If you keep the 512Mb, or only boost it to 1Gb, your laptop won't run as fast as it could due to using the hard drive for the swap file all the time. Serious performance penalty.

i hate how all the new laptops have the t2060/2080 processors w/ half the cache... 6 months ago:

I got the one in CompUSA last time. Waiting for another deal like it.

I've to buy one in another month - Green for you OP - I'll wait a month and hope

Do these Dual Core CPUs support SpeedStep? It's a shame that Intel doesn't post specs for these things.
