It worked! Thanks a lot, MAN!

I'm familiar with the trick...problem is I get to final checkout and I either get an error with my DPA due to 'Dell maintenance', or it gives me a total with no DPA discount added in.
Am I the only one seeing this?
If it's not working for you, do the following.
1. Close all browsers and delete all cookies. 2. Click through and add the camera to your cart. 3. Click Pay with one credit card and select the offer for 4% when it shows up. |

K110D for $369
or
Rebel XTi for $675
If you are looking for p&s with faster shutter speed with decent low light at good price, and more control than your regular p&s, K110D should be good.
Thing about SRL is that once you start getting into it, it can get little addictive and want more and more... Better lens, external flash, more lens, better body (30D), more and better lens ......
Buying Canon will give option to expand your equipments to higher ends stuffs, probably start with 50mm, maybe tamron, and the L series, external flash.... and when this is done... you will want to better body 30D or something. At this point at least all your equipment will be compatible with 30D ( or 40D in future)
At the end the picture will shine when you capture that right moment. oh and some photoshop skills helps lot.

OH YEAH!!! if you expect to take picture using LCD screen, XTI or K110D is NOT for you !!!!! |

I'm having the same dilemma. One of the reasons I haven't pulled the trigger on the Pentax is its lack of image stablization control. But the Rebel doesn't seem to have this either--is this correct? I will only be using the kit lens, so I won't be adding ISC there. The thing that frustrates me to no end with my current Canon SD600 is that my kids are in constant motion and I can never get a crisp shot of them.
But I know Canon's reputation is stellar, so I'm stuck on the fence: is the Canon $300 better than the Pentax for a soccer mom who just wants decent shots of her kids? |

samiam - Probably not. With $300 i'm sure you can get a nice zoom lens with the pentax. People forget that a body is limited only by the lens it uses. 18-55mm kit lens is not that far for soccer, i think you would want something in the 200mm range for soccer. |

As others have indicated, camera system can be addictive, so think about which "System" you would like to buy into rather than which "camera". If you get into photography as a hobby, then more likely than not you will spend quite a bit on accessories of all sorts and the threshold to switch systems at a later date becomes higher and higher. IMHO, the Lens selection & availability of Canon cannot be beat (Craigslist, forums, eBay offer great oppertunities to pickup used canon lenses at decent prices) |

Here are some good info...
Both cam will be good for faster action shots, once you learn how to use SRL. There are some learning curve involve shooting good picture.
anyway.. gotta run to lunch. |

Thanks for your advice everyone. I guess I just bought myself a new hobby.
After much consideration between the Rebel and less expensive Pentax, I finally pulled the trigger on the Pentax K100D (search in Hot Deals for Pentax K110 if you are interested in that deal). I decided the image stablization control that comes with the K100 was worth it for me since I have often have problems with both blurriness and low light.
Against my better judgment, I also pulled the trigger on a 50-200 lens, since after a combo rebate, the lens would only be $129.00. Total cost for the Pentax K100 kit with 18-55 lens plus extra 50-200 lens = $595 AR shipped, which is less than the Rebel with only the kit lens. (Even though I know the Rebel is the "better" camera.) |

Totally agree with thedutt. I would research on what system such as Canon, Nikon, Sony, or Pentax, you like and determine the camera later. For me, I went to Nikon since I am so used to Nikon system and have a few good lens to begin with. Nikon will produce a slightly darker image compare to others to prevent over exposures. I don't mind using PS to adjust to the true brightness or use custome tone curves. Yes, it takes a time! Or you could go to Canon system which offers brilliant colors and brightness. And it doesn't require a lot of PS touch.
If you are an ordinary P&S soccer mom, I would invest more to a good lens (at least 200mm zoom) than a body.
By the way, the image stabilization on Nikon is on the lens called VR.

Is there a 25% off coupon for the Digital Rebel XT? I might be more interested in that. Thanks |

Can anyone confirm that the 10% off coupon (from eBay?) and the $80 off coupon at Circuit City are stackable? If so, then CC's deal may actually be better.
CC link for Rebel XTi
$809 - $80 NFAQMFBAMY - $72 (10% eBay code?) = $657 + tax.
OR
$809 - $80.9 (take 10% off first) - $80 NFAQMFBAMY = $648 + tax
Please let me know if my math is wrong...
Edit: You cannot add two coupons online, but at local stores, they may let you do it. |

You need filters and rechargeable Ni-MH batteries! Those will save a lot of $$ later on.

Image Stabilization (IS) won't stop motion blur. It counter acts hand shake when shooting in low light (slow shutter speed) or zoomed in situations. |

Just FYI, but the kit lens with the XTi has plastic lenses (from what I understand). This will produce lower quality pictures than a good glass lens, so when I finally do get this camera, I will opt for the body only. I already have a few really nice Cannon lenses, so this would be a downgrade for me. But, if I didn't have any lenses to start, I would either get the body only and buy a good lens or 2, or perhaps sell the kit lens if I went that route.
In the end, they are your pictures so only you can determine how important the quality of the memroy is... |

Plastic? Really? No, really? You've got to be kidding? I can understand that it's a mediocor lens and the number of elements and construction my be sub par, but I would think the lens is still glass.
