OP, your coupon didnt work, but heres a working one:

985CK046STJX0N

Uggh, paid $50 more from Dell not 3 weeks ago. Guess I could try to get a price adjustment, but doesn't seems worth it considering the trouble. I imagine by the time the CSRs are available again tomorrow, this deal will be over.

after using the Dell coupon ..can we ask Staples.com to PM?

Any for the Canon 30D? I tried the coupons listed, but they are respectively for the SD800 and the XTi.

coupon working on xti... not working on sd800is

Try CC, use this code ( NFAQMFBAMY ) for $80 OFF and eBay 10% off coupon for $2, the math will be:

1499 for BODY + 28-135mm LENS
http://www.CircuitCity.com/ssm/Canon-EOS-30D-Digital-SLR-Camera-Kit/sem/rpsm/oid/176199/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

(1499 - 80) x (100% - 10%) + 2
= 1280 + tax + shipping (pick up from store to get rid of shippin)

why is this getting for Canon 30D

http://ecomm.Dell.com/dellstore/basket.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=&itemtype=SNA&oid=53a9f962-95c0-4616-8e4b-d90c7df65238

is this with lens?

Amazon has it (body only) for $1,129.33. No tax and free shipping.

The CC deal you posted looks tempting!

Dell has the 30D (with 18-55 mm Lens) for $1,189.15 before tax and shipping.

Still hoping for a better deal.

Thnx checking.. I just might hop on to it!

Anyone has any concern of it using CMOS sensor instead of CCD sensor?

Just ordered one. Thanks for posting this, OP and dizzle.

Thanks. Got one. Have been waiting for this deal for some time. Green for you!

India is always available to serve you. I'm sure they'll even tell you their name is tom.

No, Canon CMOS sensors are superior to the Sony sensors used in comprable Nikon, Pentax, and Sony DSLRs in my opinion (better high ISO performance). CMOS sensors are good enough for the Canon 1Ds Mark II, a very nice $7000 DSLR. I'd be more concerned about the quality of the kit lens.

wtf, I can't get 4% off using DPA. Anyone????

Tank yo, sohoup again at kill.

so, who's getting the XTi today?

In for one!
Thx so much!

got xti... can't resist... about 700 plus CA tax...

so, any recommendation for good lens?

nice deal~ will recommend this to my friends. thanks!

lens depends on kind of shotting you do.

For good starter lens for learning srl, Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II is good.

Another good on for the price is Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 XR DI AF.

And there are Canon L series, which most of them will cost more than the cost of xti body.

Good luck

Thanks for posting good deal.

it comes with lens..right?

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos400d/

review...it says its better to buy the body only and then to spend on good lens...the starter kit with the cam is slow and weak

so not sure about it...dont have much experience with these cams

how about canon G7 as an alternative? i know its a different class

comparsion list:

This is a great deal. Although the stock lens is slow and cheap feeling, it's a great lens to start off with if you're just getting into digital photography. You're not gonna get many exposures for any type of magazine covers but it'll do for just learning purposes.

Lenses I'd recommend are:

both of these are great all around lenses and will make the stock lens look like dirt, they range from $300 used to about $375 new.
- Tamron 28-75mm f2.8
- Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 - only drawback on this lens compared to the tamron is it takes 82mm filters.

Wide angle for the xti:
canon efs 10-22mm.. this is the widest lens you can get for the aps-c sensor canons. it's soo wide that you have to watch your toes sometimes. Yes there are the tamron/sigma variations but this is by far better built/quality.

Telephoto:
canon 70-200mm f/4L. great sharpness, best bang telephoto L lense for the money period in my opinion. Usually can be had for about $450 - 550ish.

canon xti Total: $700.68 including tax free shipping and PDA 4% off and i will get 3% FatWallet Cash Back so it will be 679.66

i think this is a great price

Costco has Nikon D40 kit for 999. Am still on the fence. Someone, please help me to choose between the two. Thank you.

I'm trying to buy the XTi AND the PowerShot SD800 IS, but the 25% only applied to the XTi. Is there a way to get 25% off both items?

um, D40 for a grand??? D40 is supposed to be the 'inexpensive'/starter SLR in Nikon's lineup.

D40 prices as listed on DPReview (much lower than $999)

I hope you really meant the D80 or mistyped the price or something.

update: just checked costco.com, and the D40 with 2GB card included is for $579
