If you want to upgrade your memory on this laptop (you'll need to in order to run Vista decently), go to Frys.com link. 2x 1Gb PC2-4200 so-dimm memory for $94.99 (+tax) w/free shipping - $25 rebate = $69.99 (+tax). That's the lowest it's been, dropped $20 this week. |

In-store receipts have a 5 off 25 coupon. May be you can use that to purchase the printer (needs to be on the same day).

You guys are gonna get screwed on this one if you buy it at a closing store, as the rebate specifically excludes them. |

They still have some at Portland, Oregon. The screen flex too much so I decided not to buy. |

You know these are great laptops for your average computer user. I have a v2000 series and my cousin has this exact one, and no problems at all. Anyone that is going to complain about this deal, is not in the market for an affordable laptop. Laptop memory is cheap and easy to install on these. Green for you OP..I am contemplating this purchase for a backup laptop..Oh and Compaq CS is wonderful, at least when I had to use them (once). |

Stay away from my Staples!
PS: That's a pretty far drive. Do you want me to pick it up for you? |

Vista basic seems to be very very slow, thought this is my first expereince with it, i dont know why I was optimistic in expecting it not to be that of a HOG . Will 1 Gb of ram be sufficient enough for Vista Basic ( latop will mostly be used for browsing and Office Doc). Any one upgrading the 512 MB SoDIMM that came with the system PM me, i will be intrested in taking it off your hands.
I am trying to clean up stuff on this laptop so that it can be tad bit Faster . Below is the list of thing i cleaned off the system. 1. Norton AV 2. Turned off bunch of HP stuff from startup
Let me know any/all the thing that can be further turned off to make it faster until i upgrade its memory. Thanks... washin |

Remember, the FEDS are still watching CUSA's compliance with Court Order to make good on rebates for I think the next 18 years (was 20). So As long as they are still in business somewhere the rebates should be golden. As far as this being a good deal, I found this Compaq C504us at Microcenter and it appears to be a better deal if you don't have the coupon. FWIW. BTW this has 100gb HD and DVD+/-RW and 1.86Mhz Proc. Circuit City has 80g, DVD/CD-RW Combo and 1.73Mhz proc. |
