If it is, then it's not that bad, is it? Rather than buying those used laptop on eBay for the same price with Pentium M processors.
Please correct me if I am wrong. The Celeron just doesn't have the speedstepping feature of the Pentiums IIRC. I've got a Celeron M in my 1 1/4 year old lappy, and it works great (Win XP of course).

it says 3 USB ports, in one of the reviews i was reading just now http://www.epinions.com/content_328199605892 the reviews seem quite OK... and seems to be a good deal if u downgrade vista to simple XP.
i was looking for a cheap laptop, so i think i'll order one.. thanx op!

This doesn't seem to have an ExpressCard (nor a PC Card) slot, but the HP.com has it.

In general all Laptops costing less than $600-$700 are crap. After buying, using and desperately selling them off online I have come to this conclusion. You get it cheap but pay the price of utter slow performance and frustration. I am using a $999 refurbished Sony laptop now and can't be more than happy. And finally HP/Compaq systems sucks.

You might want to elaborate the problem that you have with cheap laptop, it is possible that you may have a bad laptop (lemon). I had my $500 Toshiba laptop from BF 2002, it is not the greatest, but it still run great until now. I use it extensively for my school work (mostly for Office, Photoshop, and internet).

Unrealistic expectations almost always lead to disappointment.
High doesn't always equal high quality and low cost doesn't always equal crap. If you have to spend lots of money to make yourself feel good about a product fatwallet probably isn't the place for you.

When was the last time you've used a premium HP? Try something in the DV9000 range, for $700 you can get a VERY good laptop off of FW deals. Core 2 Duo, 1gig ram and Geforce 7600 too slow for you?

My local store shows in stock. But it wouldn;t let me order online. And I don't think I can use save10 code in-store. Oh well..
Anyone running Linux on this system got their wireless network working. I have skimmed through some Google pages about the issue with broadcom mini pci wireless card Linux driver but just want to ask if anyone already got it working.
Anyway here one page Linux ubuntu link that has documented few configurations settings.
