Life is then good. Show me on eBay where you can get this phone for free or even close to free. You have no idea what you are talking about. Good deal OP for those that qualify. This is a $450 phone in store.
I was referring the post right above mine, in which he paid 1000 for the phone.

yeah, it does seem to be only for new activations. what's stopping me from creating a new line? I'm under no contract and they already treat me like red-headed stepchild by being a former AT&T Wireless customer. |

I have a seperate family plan. I added this "new line" with this free deal. I verified with Cingular that I can switch this new phone over to that family plan once it is activated. I also plan on dropping the data plan. Once I pass my 2-yrs in September on my family plan, I'll drop off one of my old lines...... |

HTC Advantage X7501 - coming out this summer am not sure about the price though.
These guys are the original manufacturers of the Cingular 8525, T-M Dash, T-M Wing, etc.
And check this out HTC Shift - Latest Mobile Computer/GSM phone - 7" screen, 30GB hdd, blah blah I guess it's coming out later this fall.
HTH.
The chances that those phones are available on Cingular are slim. There are many many more phones that never see the day of light on the offerings of any US Carrier. (i.e. the entire O2 line, and the rest of the HTC family - check gsmarena) Don't hold your breath with the upcoming models. If you REALLY want those phones you'll have to pay a non-subsidized price.
That being said, you shouldn't pass up a good deal now in hopes of one of these coming out. I'm certain the iphone release is one of the reasons for the "clearance" deals on these handsets. |

I believe Jamestren told how he was going to do this a few post above. Let us know how this goes, Jamestren. |

So, we can just get the phone and then cancel the data plan without incurring any charges? |

Good grief, that's almost a umpc - 5.5" x 4" does not, in my book, qualify as a "phone". The 8525 is about as large as you can get away with on your belt, and it's a good deal smaller than that.
That said, I'd be itching to get into something like my 8525, but a bit slimmer (say, in the 15-16mm range) with gps. |

If somebody is thinking/interested about them, like me, would go ahead and buy these retail. I know they would be expensive. |

I truly appreciate this log. I purchased the AT&T 8525 for $150 via Amazon, which was a great bargain. That order was pending. I came upon this site last night and evidently beat the deadline and ordered the AT&T 8525 for free after paying the activation fee. Thanks for the great advice ! |

Will my BLUE chip work in these phones? I can see ATT wanting to phase this out as I get 750 minutes for $39.99. I hate to buy a phone, and then it doesn't work! |
