Before I purchased this unit from CC, I called the Rebate center 800 number listed on the $64.50 rebate form. I specifically asked the agent if purchasing a printer from CC at a reduced price would qualify me for this rebate and the agent answered in the affirmative. I couched the question in a number of ways so as to make sure that what I was understanding was in fact what the agent was saying. I advised the agent that there was some concern as to the wording of the rebate but he assured me that purchasing the printer from CC at a reduced price of $79.99 would indeed qualify for the rebate if the paperwork , forms etc. were submitted as required. As verification of this reassurance, I received the agent's name and ID # and asked that my information, (name, address etc) be entered into the system as well. After checking with the supervisor as to how this could be done, he returned to the phone, reiterated all the information I have given him and he once again assured my that the purchase in question would qualify for the rebate.

There's little more than I can say or do at this point. I have purchased the unit and it is scheduled to be delivered on 7/3. I note this a.m. that CC has now raised it's price on the printer to $129. They say that timing is everything. We shall see. In this case.....no guts, no glory!

"Only puchases made by and end user... from an authorized HP reseller are valid."

Is CC an HP reseller? I didn't see CC on the HP website's list of resellers. CC is a retailer.

Reseller and retailer list are http://welcome.hp-ww.com/country/us/en/howtobuy.html:

RazelDazel said:There may be a way around all of this. There seem to be two different rebates currently being offered for this printer. One rebate (#2502 50% off) specifically mentions "special pricing". Arguably, a case could be made that the discount offered by CC under these rebate terms would negate the rebate.

However, there is a second rebate offered here ... http://h30014.www3.HP.com/offers/us/detail.asp?id=1409&tab=5#tab.

Terms of this rebate state "offer is not combinable with any other national HP offers". The discount offered by CC clearly states that it is a CC discount not an HP one so the limitation would not apply.

Additionally is states that " this offer is not combinable with resellers offers." However, CC is not a reseller but a retailer so the discount offered by them would theoretically be allowed.

The key here is to apply for the $64.50 rebate NOT the 50% off rebate. Oh, BTW... it seems that the $64.50 rebate is good only on printers purchased between 6/24/07-6/30/07. What do ya think? I think this would fly!

That's reassuring. I pulled the trigger on this last night - before I was aware of all the rebate probs.

Thanks for all your efforts RazelDazel! My printer from CC shipped 2 days ago and I've been keeping my toes crossed the rebate would fly. Now if it bounces I'll have your info to reference if I have to fight for it.

Which rebate are you going to use? The 50% or the latest one on HP site?

The 50% off rebate refers to "special pricing" limitations as well as it being 50% off the MSRP. That being said, I think the rebate found at http://h30014.www3.HP.com/offers/us/detail.asp?id=1409&tab=5#tab has a better chance of getting processed.
That's the one I will be submitting anyway.

I also called the number 1888-385-5410 and specifically confirmed that S096 was valid at CircuitCity at the reduced price. I spoke to Paola (#54534), and she took down my name and address.

Interestingly, she said that Bestbuy and Bestbuy.com, as well as Officemax were NOT valid for this rebate.

How about Staples? I bought a lot of these at Staples store and Staples.com. They have $65 rebate from 6/24- 6/30. Hope they honor these. Will they deny these too? On the Staples rebate form, it says there is no limit on these rebates
Please let me know. Thanks

she didn't say anything about Staples to me..

Can anyone verify that there is NOT a 1 rebate per address limit on Text ? I called HP on 7-16 and they claim that if you ordered multiple printers you can send it all in the same envelope. They also verified no limit on rebates per address but I'm still not completely comfortable. This rebate has already generated so much controversy....

I called HP to ask about status of my rebate, having waited the 10-12 weeks it said on the form. After putting me on "hold" CSR said I'd have my check in 4-6 weeks. Having waited the 12 weeks seemed to matter. If it had been less time I'll bet he would have told me that it hadn't been enough time. Funny that now that I've called its going to take another 6 weeks to get the check. Anyone get their rebates yet?
