so you're saying instead of paying to upgrade from 6-cell to 9-cell for $40, you can spend $69 total and just get a 9-cell? this way you have TWO batteries for $29 more than the upgrade???
No, actually I was saying to simply pay the $40 for the upgrade. Having 2 batteries is overkill IMO (at least for me).
The only reason I mentioned purchasing batteries in an earlier post, was to answer the question about it sticking out more. When it comes time to replace a battery....you can save money by not purchasing from Dell. thx for clarification, bro. |

the 9 cell on the new dells does stick out, and I highly doubt that eBay already has the new batteries, they are nothing like the previous ones |

With the Vostro being their new line perhaps only Dell now knows the answer. |

its funny how people keep talking about how their older inspiron batteries fit flush, but that has nothing to do with the new redesigned inspiron and vostro series, the 9 cells stick out, do a little reasearch before confusing everyone and basing things off of old models |

Some questions on the options? Are you chosing the 10GB free back up option? Plan not to as I think they will add some monitoring program that will run on the background to back up the HD. Norton Utility for 90 days? I may be able to get a licence copy from of McAfee so is it worth it? 1 year free tune up? again some program running on the backround that may give Dell acces to computer to advice configuration and possibly try to sell stuff you may not need. What do you guys are doing or think? |

What do you guys are doing or think? If you're not sure you'll use it, you probably won't, and if that's the case it's just taking up space. I wouldn't mess with any of that stuff personally, but to each his own. |

Maybe do a little 'reasearch (sic)' and try not being such an a**hole with your response. |

Maybe do a little 'reasearch (sic)' and try not being such an a**hole with your response. I would think that most people savvy enough to be talking about a deal like this would not make large presumptions like "Well if my old laptop battery was flush fit, these are flush too." and then present that as fact. Asking if a battery is flush fit on a specific model should not have multiple answers, it does or it doesn't fit inside the laptop. People that do not know the answer to technical yes/no questions should merely refrain from answering. |

According to Dell the 9 cell battery is flush with the bottom of the Vostro 1500 laptop...much the same as the Inspiron I mentioned in a previous post. I asked this question before (phone)....and then upon ordering (Dell chat) this laptop. Hopefully this is 'savvy'enough of an answer for you. |

yes you are correct, it is flush with the bottom, but it sticks out the back, being flush with the bottom and sticking out the back are 2 different things |

SpinningLizard said:I just got the 1400 which seems to be a bit better deal if you don't mind a bit smaller screen with a higher contrast (better). I was also reading on another deal site (where I found the 1400 deal) that even though the order confirmation via email lists the 8400 graphics, the details on the Dell site show integrated graphics, not the card. I would recommend checking the Dell site if you got either one to make sure that it lists the right graphics selection. I just checked mine it was WRONG, it lists intergrated graphics which is not even a choice instead of the 8400 card. Nothing can be changed untill tomorrow as Dell Business is only open from 7am - 7pm and they are the only ones that can make a change since many people have already tried, so don't waste your life tonight. Hopefully the 1500 orders are correct, but I would check to be safe. Good luck
A note on Vista: it is just new and has some bugs and incompatibilities, but soon it will be the current XP and then XP will be old and slowly become obsolete just like the rest of windows previous versions. I am getting vista just because it will be fine and become the main windows OS. Something to think about if you are looking to be more future proof. Can someone explain the why the 1400 is a better deal? From purely specs perspective, the 1500 has identical hardware (except "hd audio 2.0") and has more upgradable options. With the 9 cell it's still $10 cheaper. In my experience, Dell 14" laptops aren't significantly more portable than the 15". |

I'm in 4 1. I had bought a Gateway MT6840 about a week ago from best buy for $599, but returned it today and ordered this instead. mainly for the better video card and c2d. the only thing better on the Gateway was it came with vista home premium, but i doubt ill use those features anyway. and even though I don't plan on doing much gaming on the laptop, at least I can do some casual gaming with older titles now if I want to. thanks op |

I'd called this AM w.r.t the discrepancy. I got an email back that the 8400 is going to be installed and it was a typo in the Order Status. Sure enough, the Order Status has also been updated with the proper video card. iafzal3 said:I checked the Intel website to get the info on the CPU but I could not find any CPU that is
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5470 (1.6GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
Only thing I could find closer to it in spec is T7100 2 MB L2 1.80 GHz 800 MHz or L7500 4 MB L2 1.60 GHz 800 MHz
http://www.intel.com/products/processor/core2duo/specifications.htm
Anyone can comment on this? Supposed to be Santa Rosa chip but who knows... I'd like to know where to find the specs as well. I'm trying to find out if it has VT support - I run virtual PC and vmware and would like the hardware virtualization support.
Also, man did Dell make it hard to upgrade the memory on this thing! You gotta remove the keyboard to get access to the second DIMM slot?? What a pain in the butt |
