Actually it's the low end line replacing the inspiron and dimension in small business. The vostro PC's apparently won't have trialware installed, and a bunch of other marketing crap about support etc.
It's sad actually as you can't buy dimension PC's or Inspirons through small business anymore.
One thing that's really nice about this new brand is that you can choose not to have pieces of crapware installed. Make sure you go through all the options pages and get rid of trial antivirus, productivity, PC tune up, and others.
Hmm, the low-end Vostro ($449 config from above poster) looks to be a black-colored Inspiron 1501, which is still on sale at SB with better specs for $449 by searching Fatwallet.
The OP's Intel Vostro deal seems good in comparison, especially with the Santa Rosa Core 2 Duo and Nvidia DX10 dedicated video card- pluses at this price point. I think that this is also an Inspiron replacement due to the black plastic design, but for $600 without rebates, you really can't beat it.
Edit: From a Google search, Notebook Review confirms that the Intel Vostro models are rebranded Dell Inspiron 1420, 1520, and 1720 laptops.
At least Dell is finally giving the option to remove their bloatware. Apparently they actually are listening to the comments from users...it just took them a long time to follow through.

Just picked up a couple for customers. $10 more o.O Did you upgrade something on the 1500 because the already configured 1400 is $649 so that's $50 more than the 1500 and you get the same specs except 9 cell battery instead of the 6 cell. The 1400 at base price isn't a deal though, at least not in my opinion.
