Warning!!! Not for the rebate shy. Once more, NOT for the rebate shy.

Starting tomorrow, Stap1es will have the Compaq F572US (SKU 703693) for $479.98 with a $30 ER.

Specs include:
AMD Athlon ™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TK-53 (1.7GHz) processor
1GB installed memory
80GB Hard Drive
Super Multi 8X DVDñR/RW with Double Layer Support
15.4" WXGA High-Definition Brightview Widescreen (1280 X 800) Display

Several Mcafee and Norton software have ER, MIR, MIR when upgrading, and MIR when purchased with a PC. All applicable rebates can be found in mcafeerebates.com and symantecrebates.com respectively. In many cases, the total rebates exceed the purchase price. So when bought with this laptop (or any other PC from Stap1es), these software will decrease the AR price of the entire purchase.

Norton Antivirus 2007 (SKU 656403), $39.99
$30 MIR when purchased with PC, requires original UPC (06-53579)
$30 MIR when purchased with PC at Stap1es, no UPC required (06-53582)
$20 MIR when upgrading, requires original POP (06-53468)

Norton Internet Security (SKU 656406), $69.99
$40 MIR when purchased with PC, requires original UPC (06-53581)
$40 MIR when purchased with PC at Stap1es, no UPC required (06-53583)
$20 MIR when upgrading, requires original POP (06-53467)

McAfee Viruscan Plus (SKU 656944), $39.99

Mcafee Total Protectin Plus (SKU), $79.99

$45 MIR when purchased with PC
$35 MIR when upgrading

McAfee Total Protection Plus 3-User (SKU 656950), $89.99
$30 ER when purchased at Stap1es
$45 MIR when upgrading
$55 MIR when purchased with PC

McAfee PC Protection Plus (SKU 656945), $49.99
$10 ER when purchased at Stap1es
$20 MIR when upgrading
$30 MIR when purchased with PC
$30 MIR when purchased with PC at Stap1es

McAfee Internet Security 3-User (SKU 656948), $89.99
$30 ER when purchased at Stap1es
$45 MIR when upgrading
$55 MIR when purchased with PC at Stap1es

Purchase all these software for $459.93 and get $725 in MIRs. The laptop itself is $479.98 less $30 in rebates.
The tally would then be $939.91 + tax - $755 in rebates = $184.91 + tax. Use whatever coupons to sweeten the pot.

As I do not use Norton or Mcafee software, I gave them away. You can opt to E-bay/Craigslist/sell them if you want to lower the overall price of the deal even more.

I did a similar deal 2 weeks ago and all my rebates are now in the valid and processing stage, so I know this works. However, this deal is not for everyone. In fact, it's not for a lot of people. Maybe it's just for me. A ton of MIRs are involved. So don't even try this if you're not competent in submitting, tracking, and following-up rebates.

Many of you might say that this is not a good deal because of the rebate work invovled. That's ok. Finding combo deals with MIRs is a hobby of mine and I actually enjoy it. Plus, getting a dual core laptop with 1Gb of RAM and Vista Premium for around $200 (AR, tax included) is a pretty good deal IMHO.

***Edited for correction. There is only 1 $30 rebate for the Compaq laptop. The rebate form in the Compaq website is the same offer number as the one in the Stap1es website.

***Edited title to reflect potential FAR deal if purchased with CA software as well. Refer to deal summary right after this post for complete list of items and rebates.

Please call/email/fax ONE at any point in time, then wait 1 hour or so to do another correction. This way could minimize the attention to which they may have to pay. Always give them the tracking number which you received in the email that stated it is invalid, avoid giving them the name and address which may cause their eyeball----so many rebates for one person.

DO NOT CALL WHATEVER REBATE CENTER!!!!!!!!!!!!

In my original post, I tried to dissuade those who were not experienced in doing rebates from doing this deal. With over $1000 in rebates at stake, this really isn't for those who have no idea what they are doing. Unfortunately, seemingly unqualified people decided to push on. As a result, these members have come back to this thread confused, alarmed, apprehensive, etc.

While I have no problem helping people out, people really should learn to help themselves. Most of the rebate questions being asked here can be answered by simply reading the terms in the rebate forms. These clearly state which ones require the UPC, or the POP, or just a copy of the receipt.

So please, READ THE TERMS OF THE REBATES, READ THEM CAREFULLY, AND FOLLOW THEM.

Payment Plan Info: If you don't already have one, you can a apply for a Staples Personal Credit Card. Card can only be used @ Staples and Staples.com. No payments and No interest for 6 months on all purchases of $299+ No coupon is needed for the offer. This finance plan is available all the time.

BASIC REBATE INSTRUCTIONS
1) Make sure that you have not purchased the same item and submitted rebates to the same department #s before. If you've submitted the rebates before, use a different mailing address.

2) Only the easy rebates print out at Stap1es. You will have to register the other rebates at mcafeerebates.com and symantecrebates.com.

3) For upgrade rebates, you can use the other software that bought in this purchase. For example, use the Norton Antivirus CD or Title page as proof of upgrade for the McAfee Antivirus upgrade rebate. Send in a photocopy of the documents, not the CD or the original Title page.

4) For rebates with proof of PC purchase, Symantec & CA rebates do not require the PC to be on the same receipt. McAfee - ??

5) Make sure you are walking into this deal with both eyes open. Look up the individual rebates in the www.mcafeerebates.com, www.symantecrebates.com and www.carebatecenter.com websites and read the requirements carefully and follow them.

This may help keep your rebates straight on the deal Free Rebate tracking software

Install XP or Server 2003: Drivers and issues

The XP drivers for the HP Pavillion DV6000 series notebooks worked for me. I installed the chipset, modem/audio, and Broadcomm wifi driver from there. I did not install the HP wifi assistant nor the touchpad driver (yet). I used the later GeForce 6150 driver from LaptopVideo2Go, though some hacks were involved (see linked post).

The Disk Manager MMC console will let you shrink the Vista partition, then you can install XP or Server 03 in the empty space. I left the recovery partition intact. Use bootsect.exe to restore the Vista boot sector, then use bcdedit.exe or a 3rd-party tool like VistaBoot to add your XP/03 partition to Vista's boot menu. (google these tools for details) Works great!

That's brilliant. Not going to do it, but I certainly applaud the time you put into it.

alert mods

cashier better first put a brand new paper roll in order to print tons of rebate and receipt.
don't forget sales tax is another $80 for most of the people.

LOL! Actually, Stap1es will only print out the easy rebates. All the other rebates can be found and registered at mcafeerebates.com and symantecrebates.com

alert mods

that's hardcore lol.. 20+ in rebates

alert mods

hey whats the limit on those upgrade, norton and mcafee products
thanks

alert mods

green for the deal, green for spending time changing names such as Stap1es, green for the brave soul

alert mods

Looks good but I got screwd on previous intivirus deal...good great deal if it works

alert mods

Beware, norton & Mcafee has limits per year.

Also when purchased as Staples and mfr rebates seem to be duplicate. it may not fly. Put YMMV in your title, op. Thanks for ur effort though.

Edit2: we can also buy FAR printer with compaq laptop.

alert mods

In the list of rebates for the antivirus softwares, are there a few easy rebates, thanks

alert mods

with all those software rebates, sounds like this deal is better then the bestbuy deal of $449, being that this one is an AMD.

alert mods

Wow - that is truly amazing!

circiutcity said:So don't even try this if you're not competent in submitting, tracking, and following-up rebates.

Good warning -- not sure I qualify for that.

One question: How do I qualify for the 'Upgrade' rebates -- does the lappy come with those software packages pre-installed? How do I provide proof-of-upgrade?

I'm not sure what limits you're talking about. These are all different software, and all rebates go to different departments. If you haven't submitted the same rebates before, then you should be eligible for these. Additionally, as I mentioned above, I did this deal 2 weeks ago and all my Symantec and Mcafee rebates are now showing up online as valid and processing.

Easy enough, use the other software that you bought as your proof of upgrade. For example, use the Norton Antivirus CD or title page as proof of upgrade for the McAfee Antivirus.
