That was the 10682 model (cheaper), not the 10687 model in this thread.

Yes, but are the added functionality of the 10687 worth ~$200 more?

Absolutely not! Worth 3 times the amount, hardly. I have tried the sens-a-speed/personal pace models and for me they were worthless. Just something else to tear up. When it comes to push mowers simpler is better in my opinion. Give me a good engine with basic self propulsion and I am set. Unless you are bagging and need to stop the brake clutch you can live without as well. Of course this is all moot since the $98 mower is no longer available!

A blade clutch is a very good feature if you have any kind of lawn with some size to it. It's a necessity if you bag clippings. Stopping to pick up sticks, golf balls, tennis balls etc... that find themselves in the path of your cutting is a lot simpler with a blade clutch. It's less wear and tear on the recoil starter too. Which is often one of the first items requiring service on a mower. I can't speak to the personal pace feature as I have yet to try it.

I have a large lawn and have owned several different mowers including a 30" wide cut Cub Cadet. MTD made it under the Cub Cadet label and it was a POS. Sears sells a newer version of it for about $1000.
I bought a Husqavarna from Sears earlier in the season. It too was a POS and went back the next day.

This LB is a good mower for the $$. LB dealers are everywhere too should there be any issues.
Thanks OP. Good call on this one.

Got mine and put some oil in it + gassed it up. Fired up and work great.

One thing I noticed is that there were a pair of wires that which run from the on/off switch on the handle to the right side of the motor. The wire run is for the most part protected by wire tubing but about 8" partially exposed near the engine. I was wondering if anyone else had this? Mebbe I worry too much that these will get damaged but I think I am going to try and either tape the exposed part with electrical tape or something.

Another thing that I noticed is that if you use the mulch plug, the steel bracket/bar that secures it needs to be in properly. Mid way through cutting the grass, the bar must have loosened and the mower just cut off. It started up but when I engaged the blade, it died again. That's when I noticed that the mulch plug bar was loose.

Comparing it to my 8 yr old Honda Harmony mower self propelled, I would say the LB blade brake is a great feature and I liked the pace feature of the LB. The only thing I don't have on the LB is the ability to adjust the engine speed.

BTW, the manual says that the oil should be changed after 2hrs of use the first time.

Also sent in a request for the price adjustment. thanks

Well, in 4 1. My 5-year-old Sears mower is looking a little ratty and the blade needs tightening. Sounds like reason enough. Curses, FW, you did me in again!

Pato, if the exposed wire bothers you, try using a few plastic cable ties with the excess snipped off. You can also buy that plastic cable tubing protection at Radio Shack.

Yep, plan to tie wrap those dangling wires + get some of that tubing.

For those of you that have purchased this from Amazon in the last week or so, where was it shipped from ie..state&city? Who was the supplier/vendor on the return address or shipping label/invoice?

Thanks!

Will Amazon adjust our price down AGAIN if we already requested a credit for the price reduction from $308.02 down to $292.62, and now request another price reduction credit of $14.63 for the 2nd price reduction down to $277.99? Is there a limit of one price adjustment per purchase or anything like that. Also, what is the best way to request--is there a phone number or specific link on their site for price adjustments?

Mine shipped from Amazon in Hebron KY.

... However, the reviews do not look so good. It seems that the engine has some reliability issues...

Reviews are kind of mixed, bur what I noticed - negative reviews are from people with one/two reviews ....don't really look like trustworthy...

I have a hand-me-down Craftsman that is burning oil like crazy. I bought two quarts of thicker oil to dump into it when I saw this deal. I took the second-to-last mower on Amazon - thanks to the OP!! Can't wait to try this one - I have a walkout that has some relatively steep sides. Going up and down and pushing that mower (even though it is a self-propelled FWD) is killing me. Hopefully the new self-propelled system will be better.

I am waiting for the Robomow or the Lawnbott to come down in price, but now that I've bit on a mower, it looks like the wife will be expecting me to do the lawn myself for the next couple of years. I hope the prices on the robotic lawnmowers come down in the next couple of years and/or iRobot enters the market and drives down prices.

Now the mower is $479. I guess that means I can stop checking for a lower price.

Lawnboy 10685 on sale 299

This mower looks to be on sale. It is the same exact mower as the 10687 EXCEPT it does not have the Blade Clutch system.

How about the 10682 for $239? Not too bad of a price for a self propelled mower.

My 10687 shipped from Cincinnati tonight, ETA Monday. So glad I got in on this one. My mower finally crapped out last week. Talk about timing!

Edit: Arrived yesterday (Friday) via UPS. Box in good shape. Will open this weekend.

This is a pretty good deal for a LB mower too. Although lacking the features of the OP's deal, it is still a far better mower for the money then Sears, Husqvarna,MTD,Poulan etc...
Lawn Boy, Toro, John Deere are all decent mowers. Honda's are finicky and expensive but are solid players too.

If I had not picked up on the original deal, and I am glad I did, I would go for this one for the $$.

My shipment got delayed, should be here within a couple days. Good thing, as I already sold my old mower on craig's, and my lawn is getting rather unruly looking.

I ordered on Friday last week. I checked standard shipping, not the Super Saver shipping and it still deducted the $63.00 shipping charge. Amazon emailed and revised the shipping date though. Looks like I get it tomorrow. UPS tracking has the weight listed as 2.00 lbs.???
Now I have to decide what to do with my John Deere. Not a bad mower with 5+ years on it.Although the gas tank assemble cracked early on and I have been repairing it with JB Weld to keep it going. I may keep it as a backup or reserve it for my kid to do the neighbor's lawns with it.

Just picked up 1 of the last 2 lawn-boy 10685 at Home Depot for $199.

Do you think the last one automatically gets reduced again.
