They have an Acer Laptop (AS5570) for $480 (no rebates). Comes with Pentium Dual-Core T2080, 1GB RAM, 80GB hard drive, 14.1" display, SuperMulti DVD drive with double-layer support, 5-in-1 card reader, Windows Vista Home Premium. Also includes a free Epson CX5000 all-in-one printer after rebate.
If done the crazy way, you get a free laptop with great specs.

orangespot said: what 20% off coupon?Wasn't a coupon, it was a in-store offer that if you buy "3 or more software, backpack, warranty" when you buy the laptop, you get 20% off those items...the offer was kinda for back in June but some stores were still offering it couple weeks ago.
Red for lazy pseudo-deal. If you're going to post the deal, do the work that circiutcity did in his post... or at least link to his post. Basically, your post reads as "This might be a deal. You figure it out."

Thanks for your advise, I'll update my post to include the "crazy 50 rebates" post.
I think this is a great post for those who missed the last deal or were unsure if the 50+ rebates would really work. Now as I keep track of the other deal I'm more likely to jump on this one. Sure the OP could have made his post better but he has made changes that were suggested. There is no need to beat the guy up...all that does is hurt everyone as others wont post a hot deal if they are going to be treated harshly. Thanks OP and I gave you green!

If we were playing that game, you might as well make it the make-$500-FAR-PM-AC-FatCash-notebook-YMMV-you-figure-it-out game.
Chill people....negative comments add no value to the thread, if you're going to criticize, at least be constructive about it and add something of value to the thread. I think most people here know about the last "crazy" laptop deal, and a lot of people weren't so sure about getting into it. The op here is just alerting us to another laptop that would work with the same rebates (as someone said rebates valid til dec). I know I wouldn't have paid attention to the ad enough to realize that here is another laptop that would work with the software rebates. Thanks op for alerting me, I might actually go for it this time, green for you!

People sure are grouchy these days on these threads. Why not have more of these "crazy" threads? This is what fatwallet is all about, great deals for those willing to put in some time and effort. Maybe OP gets points off for style, but he gets green for at least alerting people to a potential legitimate deal.
And what's up with giving people red just because their post doesn't meet your own oh-so-high standards of quality, when it's a legitimate deal that nobody else has mentioned? What is this, grade school where we make fun of the kid with the bad haircut? What's up with that?
Hahahaha, that's just a generic link to the new ad. There's nothing in there about a laptop deal at all. Repost, surrrrreeeee. Nice try.

If I was somebody who needed a laptop, I'd look at this thread and say green. I don't need a laptop, but for the OP pointing it out, I'll give him green. 32 out of 50 rebates valid from the last acer deal= very happy fwer.
I didn't see any discussion of the Laptop deal in that thread. Since the "crazy 50 rebate" deals were getting their own thread, I thought my highlighting it in a new post would be appropriate.

When you go to see straples add, you get the current add - if you click on the 'upcoming' add you'll get next week - maybe you can have the cookie...

Just linking to an upcoming ad doesn't alert anyone to a 50-rebate crazy deal possibility in it. And nobody did that - until the OP did it. This is not a repost thread, deal with it.
Can we get this post on track? Please! Is this deal doable? Lets put a positive spin on a free laptop. Who is going to try this deal? I found out there is no experation date on the 20% off three or more software at Staples so that part of the deal is still on.
red for all the negative thread crappers. I haven't had time to read the crazy thread lately because of the sunrocket debacle. So I really appreciate the op's admittedly lame thread. He fixed it according to the thread crappers suggestions and he was polite about it until he could see that it didn't make any difference.
What's wrong with people who have to be rude just because something is not done perfectly according to their standards the first time OUT THE GATE?
You can educate people to make better posts without making the FW site a disgusting place to visit.
I went in on what some call the "crazy" deal. It was not at all crazy to me, but then I do not find work to be crazy or objectionable. Free laptops are a hoot, at least in MHO.
My thanks to the OP. This deal is viable and I appreciate being made aware; always have that second address at the ready.
Only "negative" I see here is the price. I got in at $400 minus a $30 'bate on the lappy itself on my Presario, before any software rebates. This was due to a fleeting price error, but still. I only wish the starting price here were a little lower. Maybe a PM opportunity will show up today or very soon. It would be a help.
But regardless my hesitation, this lappy is available for free to anyone willing to put in the hours and do the research and work. And free is cheap. If you're not up for free, you can just do some of the rebates, as I did, and pay whatever you wish. My counsel: Do the CA and Symantec rebates before others.
It's very long, but there is a HUGE reservoir of knowledge in that thread people are calling "crazy". It's in the true FW spirit as far as I'm concerned.
Despite the lazy post, this deal is not only doable, but the laptop isn't "free"...if you play your cards right, you can actually make several hundred dollars after all the rebates. I have almost $400 MORE in validated rebates than I paid in total for this last time. If you're willing to read the Compaq deal thread (search "Compaq" and "crazy") and you're a rebate pro, I highly recommend this deal. Even Onion is getting in this week. He can't stand feeling so left out
Seriously, though. Before you ask a bunch of stupid questions, spend some time reading the previous Acer and Compaq threads. There are thousands of posts in those and every conceivable question ha sbeen asked and answered many times over. Remeber, you can serch within a thread for your specific question.
rbraden said: Even Onion is getting in this week. He can't stand feeling so left out I might do it. Ive always supported the other two "crazy FAR laptops". You just need alot of time to file/track rebates. My entire day is free today so I might. maybe. The only thing that REALLY annoys me is the the rebate centers WILL frauduantly invalidate a LEAST a hand full of rebates as proven in the other two threads so even though you file all rebates today you still have an entire day of doing rebate follow ups/calling rebate centers in the future. Other than that its always been a great deal. As I joked in the other threads, its like having a second job for a few days...it really is.

Staples has this as an on going offer that if you buy a laptop and 3 or more software titles you qualify for 20% off the software. My Staples has a sign by the laptops with this offer. I was told they could not see any expiration date for this offer!
