better hurry, things are running out fast. i got my order through and several things are already running out of stock
UPDate: Looks like the price has been marked down in the regular REI (REI.com) store as well but i've yet to find any graceful way of doing a url search to find everything.
i don't know why i got red. the price has dropped since yesterday for the .83 items. This is reminiscent of the secret sale held previous years. You are not going to find better deals than this one for most of the items.

REI didn't bother tell any members this year. I guess this is due to all the butchering they've exp-ed last year. I recall staying up till 2am waiting for the secret sale to start. anyhow. I was told by an assoiciate at a REI store yesterday about this. You can find the same deal in all the B&M stores with .83 sale. On top of that it's used gear sale on sat of this week.

it will take at least 2 weeks for the store to get it. I always use store pick up and their reps are a pleasure to deal with. However items are usually trucked out at the end of the week and takes another week for stores (at least east coast) to get it. But if you know where you are moving to, maybe you can pick it up at a REI store there since they will hold it for a LOOOONG time before canceling your order.
The extra 50% off on the .83 items did not show up at the check out page. Is the sale start tomorrow? If not, how would I get the extra 50% off applied to those sale items?

Some are correct... this not the .83 cent sale that the stores have. That starts Friday (8/24). The OP has linked to a sale that the _Outlet_ store is having.

i know the feeling. every time i look i spend some more money. so far i've placed about 6 orders ~800-900 and i had to call AMEX to let them know of this erratic charging binge.
Whether or not it was supposed to be a "secret", thanks so much OP. I've been living in Old Navy flip-flops just because they're cheap and come in so many colors, but especially after reading the following article I wanted to switch to better sandals but they can be expensive. Thanks to you I just got 2 pairs of Merrells for a little over $30, shipped. My feet and my podiatrist thank you!

don't wait for the wife, just buy. chances are things are going to run out. I've seen this sale being spread around some of the other deal sites. REI has a EXCELLENT return policy. I've never had any issues with returning stuff.

you can't return stuff from their clearance sales.
I worked for REI a couple years ago and you can return nearly EVERYTHING! If it's an extremely outragous return, we'll try settle on a fair price to return at...no customer feels screwed when all said and done.

Got my orders 2 days ago. An oobe men's summit jacket for $60 and a columbia Downtowner soft shell for 25. No problems picking up orders....Happy with my purchases. Thanks guys!
