2. Stainless look Gas range
3. Stainless look Dishwasher and
4. 25 cu. ft Stainless-look refrigerator
what is stainless look?
Painted. While I waited in line at Fry's this morning, I looked at a Samsung stainless-look refrigerator next to some real stainless steel refrigerators, and stainless-look sure didn't resemble stainless steel up-close. Rather it more like grey metallic paint with black streak paint applied over it. Streak paint is a type of clear paint containing pigment that doesn't dissolve with the clear part, so if you shake it up and brush or wipe it on, you get streaks that can resemble fine wood grain or brushed stainless steel. The Samsung stainless-look appeared to have a regular clear coat applied over the grey metallic and streak paints, but I'd expect it to be very difficult to repair if damaged.

There has been a decline over the years IMO. The reason is that everybody now knows about BF and contrary to us "pro" shoppers that want GREAT deals, and get them during the year the average folks are happy to save much less.

So the stores are full of people regardless. Lines start the day before for mediocre deals. Retailers win and average shopper is happy. Why would they change?
I live near a Fry's and a Best Buy. BB didn't have many cars, an hour before opening at 5:00 AM, while Fry's, with a much bigger parking lot, was only about 3/4 full. When I left Fry's around 7:00 AM, the parking lot was packed, while BB was only about half full. Maybe that was because of Fry's.

When did you get there, to get out at 7:00am? The Frys in Renton WA was packed, I'm close by that one and popped in after I posted here for the heck of it. I passed up the 300GB HD and Quad since it wasn't worth my time to stand in the endless line for those two. I got enough drives anyway. BB was packed here as well, I didn't go, a friend called me.

Well, I enjoyed my foray into the night a lot. But boy, was it cold.

Honestly, I had to scrape ice off my windows twice, once when I was getting ready to go, and the second time when I was ready to come back. It was dry, the moon was setting over the water and a huge orange disc. If I'd been out for any other reason, I might have parked to watch it sink into the Pacific, but I was on a Mission.

Not quite as important as the one the Blues Brothers were on, and not quite as fraught with adventure, although for me, a meek, unassuming pencil pusher (If I could find a pencil on this esk) it was a bit of an adventure.

I could tell I wasn't alone when I noticed all of the cars in front of me turning off the part of 101 that runs thru town and onto the Samoa exit, and from there to the back street that leads to Target from the South. Actually, there were no cars, just huge trucks from Fortuna and beyond, the farmers coming in for bargain day. But they all moved over to park smack dab in front of the place. I noticed the line and the direction the heads were pointing, so I parked closer to where the heads weren't pointing, toward the end of the line. (As a result, I got in the line sooner and in the store earlier.) The farmers stood watching while the line passed. Oh, first there was the wait, and the line stretched all the way around the store and wrapped around the side. It was a long, long line. After the wait, there was a hollar of excitement from the front of the line, as the doors unlocked. It moved quickly. People stopped inside to look for carts, or get coffee, and some headed off to other directions. I didn't bother with a cart or anything, just started heading back to electronics. I got in line. I asked the girl behind the counter if I could get my desired Flat Panel TVs. She couldn't help me but she called on her walky talky till someone responded. He was a diminutive fellow, but I told him what I wanted and that I'd be waiting in the line for him. He returned empty handed. I saw a few people with smiles carting off TVs.

He said he'd parked my TVs in the aisle over there, and I looked, and couldn't see them. I figured, oh great, someone saw them there and took them off. But no, they were there, he pushed the hand cart (one of those big flat ones) for me up to the front counter, where I waited in line. The gal scanned me, scanned my coupon code and deducted my 10% off (If I had cleaned my purse and taken out the coupon code I would have been up shit creek about that discount.) Two burly guys escorted me to the car and put the televisions in. Cost less than the ones on sale at costco for their BF ad. And I'm happier to have 2 37's than one 52 anyhow. That's what this is about, making me happy.

So, I was successful. I got a lot of scowls from people who didn't like the concept, maybe they got there later (there were lots of people arriving when I was leaving.)

I think the thing that helped a lot is that people thought to stop at the DVDs in the $3.99 bargain bin DVDs first, and then went over to measure the TVs and look at their attributes. (They weren't on, so if you didn't know what the picture actually looked like, you might think a bit before you paid hard earned cash for one. But I had gone on the first day I heard of the sale from a BF list (which was actually before the FW mention, and checked it out visually and knew what it looked like, what the picture looked like, what the sound was like, everything. So I'd done all the considering first.

I'm pleased. My goal was to get 2 HDTVs with the sale price and my coupon code discount Get this, they took the coupon discount off the mandated California recycling fee too, and then they processed the tax on the total after the discounts were applied. I was glad I opted against Costco's BF deal under those circumstances. At costco when they have a sale, any sale, they ring it up at the before sale price, then apply the sale coupon (the sale coupon being the $100 or whatever off that makes it a sale. They tax the pre-sale price, and tax the full recycling fee as well.

I'm pleased, just sitting here in my office keeping watch on my car because it still has the boxed TVs in it. The only person who is strong enough and willing to help with them is upstairs asleep. So I'll keep watch on them and smile, and maybe get some of this work here done. Oh, and drink coffee

For me, it was a good Black Friday.

I got everything that I wanted and things that I should not have bought. I bought everything on-line. I even bought the Brown Zune from TRU for 79.00. Great gift for under a hundred. I love the Brown. It is so anti-apple!

Staples took most of my cash. It was a great Blk Friday for me.

I would never wait on line for things that can be delivered for free.

alert mods

Same here, the Staples TVs were the best I could find so I bought two. I know several friends and family that could use them if I find something better. Not too many TV deals maybe because they know it's hot and people are forced to buy digital hi def now for the coming analog cutoff in a year or two.

Damn, usually when I read something this long, it starts out, "Dear Penthouse Forum."

BB was packed here as well, I didn't go, a friend called me.We got to the Phoenix Fry's by 4:00 AM, which probably placed us at #300-600 in the waiting line outside. The first thing we did was find where Fry's was handing out the $290 Compaq Celeron laptops and $140 22" LCD monitors. I stayed in line while my wife went to gather all the FAR stuff plus some other goodies. Unfortunately Fry's ran out of those laptops by the time I was the 11th person in line. I heard that the nearby Circuit City had run out of a better $300 dual Compaq laptop much earlier.

I didn't go.............. but I am glad that almost everyone here went and seemed to have a good time. I enjoy just reading about it.

I can't understand the motivation behind the whole black friday thing. If you do just a little research at places like this you can find plenty of deals for xmas...many you can order from the comfort of your home...or you can stand in line, for hours...possibly risk altercations, to get a chance at saving $200 on a laptop. Many people were less fortunate and saved less than that. For example Best Buy had one really good deal on a laptop...but only 15 of them. There where 30 people in line by 10:30pm the night before...100 by the time they opened. The next best deal on a laptop saved much less...making it similar to often published Dell deals...and Best Buy only had 5 of those per store. No Thank You!!! Personally, I bought several of my gifts with the 20% off coupons from Kmart.

No camara deals this year, one at Frys, one at Staples but all very limited, does anybody see anything else?

Didn't leave house until 8:00am. Called Gamestops in Atlanta hoping to score a $249 Wii. 7th store we called in Norcross had 'em in stock. After 20 minute drive we arrived and we were the only ones at the store, might have even been the first. We scored the Wii...2 people walked in right behind us and got the last 2. Next went to Pep Boys down the road and we were one of only a few peole in store. Scored a Razor E200 for $99 - $20 MIR for $79 total. Next went to IKEA which had no BF deals in Atlanta other than free breakfast (eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, coffee). As usual bought a bunch of stuff we don't need at IKEA.

For us a great BF considering we didn't have to play with crowds or get up early. The Razor deal at PB was pretty good, $20 off plus $20 MIR.
